In the spirit of this thread, it might be cool to start a thread where posters pimped their favorite lesser known bands. We could have a threshhold for what counts as lesser known. Maybe something like "no song by the artist has more than 100K views on Youtube."
It's good, but as Vanilla 60's Balkan folk as it gets. BGKO make something almost psychedelic out of it; like an upbeat Balkan folk version of The Door's "The End"!
Lots of interesting stories in this book. I especially like the one where Colonel Tom Parker, Elvis Presley's manager, attempted to strongarm Dolly Parton into agreeing to sign away her cut of the royalties in exchange for Elvis covering her "I Will Always Love You" song. Dolly was no pushover. She stood her ground refusing to sign away her rights proving Dolly has brains (and business smarts) to go with all her other talents and attributes.
Dolly and Whitney Houston were able to reach an accord - which resulted in one of Whitney's biggest hits covering Dolly's song in "The Body Guard" movie.
Wow ... for like a hundred years I thought the lyric was "drink my wine, come and dig my herb" ... but it's "drink my wine, plowman dig my earth." Actually listening to it over and over, I think Hendrix changed the lyric while performing to the much better "come and dig my herb."
