Hint. Don't pair them up after doing laundry. Just put the newly clean ones behind the ones still in the drawer. They will all move through at the same rate regardless if you have an odd or even number.

Anyone know what is going on with imgur lately? It has been sucking hard.

Yup. Have roughly 20 socks in my drawer and 4 pairs (counted 2 weeks ago). No idea where socks are coming from or where they're going, it's insane.

They were getting a huge % of traffic from reddit, then reddit built a clone and imgur laid off 15% of people almost immediately.

It means they are probably going to try and make their money last (because no way they can raise more) and are either unable to spend as much resources on either
hardware or staff.

Unfortunately, it seems inevitable they will go the same route as many image hosts. When they break all their previous images it's really gonna hurt the internet.
09-21-2017 , 03:19 PM
It is almost impossible at this point to upload a gif, and very difficult to even get an image.

What is the next iteration I should be using now?
09-21-2017 , 03:21 PM
It's going to be a sad day indeed when imgur finally bites it. Just a matter of time, unfortunately. You'd think at some point people would eventually figure out that business model does not make sense.
09-21-2017 , 03:52 PM
Long overdue for 2+2 to offer their own hosting.
09-21-2017 , 03:59 PM
Ah yea 27.

I've found if you Google "imgur upload" you can find the right place, but trying to navigate their site won't let you without registering and ****.

Russians do have some internet problems now. My mom uses some obscure russian search engines like nigma and yesterday she called me in total stress that nothing works. The site is apparently down and surprisingly I couldn't find on the quick any info on what is going on.
09-21-2017 , 04:21 PM
the imgur extension where you can just right click any image to rehost or even screengrab an area still works. its a byzantine task though to upload my own image on the site and then get to a direct link for it

definitely gonna be a sad day when imgur leaves a trail of broken links across the internet

I went out for my afternoon coffee stroll and the army vet wannabe was there with his sign. Instead of slipping him a buck, I said hello, told him I was going to Dunkin and asked him if he wanted anything.

He told me he wanted a soda. "Coke okay?" I asked him and he nodded yes.

Then I asked him if he wanted anything to eat with it but he said no. Okay!

I told him I'd be back and went to the crosswalk to wait for the light to change. A minute later he came running over and said. "Never mind the coke. The wake up wraps are 99 cents. Can I get 2 of those instead of the coke?"

Sure!

And yes I got him the coke anyway....along with 4 of those wraps.

So....I go to pay for his stuff along with my cold brew and I remembered that I had a coupon (they stick them to the coffees) for $1 off any breakfast sandwich on my person, so I hand it to the cashier.

She looks at me like I'm and idiot and returns the coupon to me saying "This is for a breakfast sandwich."

"Yes!" I reply

You didn't buy a breakfast sandwich.

(!?!)

I told her I just bought four of them.

She told me I didn't.

Apparently wake up wraps are not breakfast sandwiches. I am just astounded by this....and it's not the money, it's the craziness of it.

It's a breakfast item, it's filled with breakfast food and wrapped in bread...yet that's not a breakfast sandwich. Okay, Dunkin!

I delivered the food and drink and that's when I got a smile and a fist. I didn't know what he was doing at first, but he gave me a very enthusiastic fist pump and thanked me.

Good deed done, though I really despise buying soda.

It is 1.49(my keed gets them), a sandwich is $3-4.

Also, you should ask to see his military ID next time.

Well sure, but my point is it's a breakfast sandwich and the coupon was specifically for "$1 off a breakfast sandwich". The coupon didn't say *except those ****ty wake up wraps.

I used to get those wraps...a little protein and not a lot of calories, until I had a bad experience with one. ugh - I'm done.

Yeah, he's lying. When he smiled it was like the living dead was smiling at me. I've never seen a more disturbing set (almost a set) of teeth. Some front teeth missing and the ones that were still there were horrifying. No way he was recently in the army.

What did he add to the sign? Looks longer.

Edit: From what I can see it looks like a new sign where he removed the explanation point from VET and possibly added one to the end of family.

Is he still with the 107th airborne division?

That is meth. He is beyond fixing.

I stopped drying my socks, besides making them last longer its also one less potential black hole for them to get swallowed into. My pairs of socks are all distinguishable, so another benefit of air drying them out of the washer is that I notice right away if one is missing. Usually it ends up being inside of a shirt in the dryer. I have not lost a sock in a while now!
09-21-2017 , 05:24 PM
Doesn't that make them scratchy? Drying them makes them nice and soft.
09-21-2017 , 05:31 PM
Picking the socks out instead of just tossing everything into the dryer seems like a pain.
09-21-2017 , 05:34 PM
Not having at least 6 pairs of the same socks is a leak.
