It's funny because I'd be willing to bet the vast majority of people don't know how magnets work beyond "electricity flow makes magnetic fields and some pieces of iron are aligned or something, I don't know, lol, magic".

no, its funny because, yes, the vast majority of people probably don't know how magnets work beyond the basics, but they would not write and rap a song about their ignorance, but instead probably just google it.

If you can google a solid understanding of relativity and gauge symmetry, you're a better man than I.

These guys are at least comfortable with who they are. 99% of people will realize, "wait, how the **** do magnets work?" and then go on to say, "meh, I'm cool with not knowing, magic, what else can I laugh at today?"

I laughed my ass off all the same, of course. And I have no clue how magnets work. And I basically do consider them magic. And it will be a long time before I have half a clue.

It is 'ironic', yeah. Not going to argue with that, except you can go talk to a scientist and still have no ***** clue what's going on with magnets. This sort of stuff isn't the sort you can just figure out in 10 minutes through any source. It's the sort of stuff that would take months of learning to really get into. For a lot of people, as Bottomset said, it's not really worth it...

So what's wrong with accepting your state and running with it since your shame of being so ignorant isn't actually enough of a catalyst to get you over the fairly massive hurdles to knowledge? The shame becomes nothing but a nuisance and a downer, and **** that noise. Magic, awesome, the world is neat-o, and I have no ***** clue. More interesting perspective than "I'm a lazy idiot loser and should keep my mouth shut lest I incur the wrath of the more educated; the world is, like, whatever; physics isn't anything special, and I should just think of it all as about as dull as grinding through a day at work."

And of course, just getting people interested in science and making it something "magical" again can push them to want to learn about it. And some actually will. That 1% will actually buy a damn book.

So, yeah, I'm going to argue with that.

the difference is, most people who arent ****ing morons, at least realize there is a reason magnets do what they do, and it has nothing to do with magic. Even if they dont understand why, they are at least aware of this thing called physics. Of course the problem is that many many many people actually are ****ing idiots and would rather sit around on their ass getting fat while watching youtube videos and eating big macs and breathing through their mouth, than be bothered to actually learn anything other than what new designer shoes a current fake shallow worthless excuse for a human is wearing, or who they are ****ing.
