If the only way that you could keep a cat as a pet was by blinding it, would you do that?
That is why after this experience I didn't have any.

But even if this troubles would be resolved you still have to think about pet population.

What is better to desexualize them or to see how a solid number of kitties and puppies is dying?

lapka,

I am glad you agree with me that cat owners are evil.

Lapka's final solution. Meowschwitz.

Don't even try to push my buttons. Firstly, I know that you kind of like to do that and it makes me more immune. Secondly, you are to nice to really push my buttons.

We are on the same side of both wanting to eliminate the scourge of cats as pets! Think of the wonderful world we could have, completely free of housecats.

Nobody owns a cat.

Spoiler:
I apologize, but this is my obligatory post every time I see this subject brought up on 2+2. Long live Elaine!

campanile is probably as good as it gets in the aa terminal itself. if you're in term. 4, you can walk to the international term. and get some better options like ink sack, umami burger, and tavern.

I actually have a decent amount of say in the decision. I myself haven't landed on a name that I think is the final one. But I can appreciate why it may seem like that from my posts. My biggest issue is identifying a name that both seems to suit him and that I can imagine saying/yelling for the next X years. For example, I think Murphy is a really well-suited name, but I don't like the idea of saying Murphy over and over again.

Saying Cooper is fine, but I don't think he seems like a Cooper.

I think Chewie is medium-ish ok on both dimensions. But I'm still on the hunt.

And yes, I realize how ridiculous all of this is.

No. I think it is often mutual gain. And in this cases it is ok and good. For example in Kazakhstan it was perfectly fine to keep an intact cat. People knew that it is just the way the nature functions. Rarely someone got upset by cats being to loud. Excess in kittens died quickly or was directly drowned. My cat had a rhythm: disappear for three days, come back to eat and sleep and allow us to cuddle with him for a day. Rinse and repeat. Everyone was happy.

But to keep an intact cat in an apartment..... I don't think that is possible.

Lapka,

Yes, together we will join forces to rid the world of housecats!

lapka - Do you think dogs and cats that are "in the mood" develop some sort of superpower that allows them to act against the wishes of their owners? Because that's the only thing that makes posts like this make sense.

Ditto. It made me genuinely laugh out loud.

I had no choice with my last 2 dogs as I got them from a shelter and they always fix them before you can adopt them. Apart from that I just can't see the sense in keeping your dog intact if you have no desire to breed them. I think it's amusing that some people consider it cruel to desex a male dog. Personally I think it's much crueler keeping them intact with no intention of ever letting them get their end away.

Cats are a major problem in Australia with feral cats in particular doing major harm to our wildlife. Spaying is definitely responsible and if people went and visited animal shelters they would agree. It's heartbreaking seeing all those animals needing homes.

In USA#1, there are an estimated 80 million feral cats, which kill 2.4 billion birds and 12.3 billion mammals each year.

Lapka,
how many kittens have you drowned?
