Rules for the residential community where the attacked happened states that no pit bulls are allowed.

Deputies say Haefner's mother told them the family received a dog from a friend a month ago and that the dog bit Miles once before, last weekend.

She said she took him to the hospital that time and was told by hospital staff said that animal control officers would contact her. They never did, according to a Volusia County spokeswoman, who said animal control never got called in the case.

You might be losing a lot more than a dog, lady.

Update: the dead 6 year old boy was eviscerated and the 5 year old girl that survived had her scalp torn completely off. No word on whether they made eye contact with the dogs.

Some stupid human thought owning a walking meat grinder as a pet was a good thing and when the horribly predictable horrible event happened as predicted sometimes all you can do is try and laugh. Wringing your hands and shaking your head sure as **** isn't going to make things any better.

(^)Maybe I have overstated my position.

It appears these type of comments have an audience, certainly not my style for humor. Knock yourself out with these distasteful jokes. At a young age, gang members kidnapped my little sister on her way home from school and cut her face up bad. They even raped her, so I do not find jokes about kids being hurt/dying to be all that funny. But everyone is welcome to laugh at what they wish I guess.

Some of the best comedians of all-time use humor as a way to deal with tragedy. That said, it is a sort of know your audience sort of thing. If I knew someone who had experienced something horrible, I probably wouldn't make a joke about it unless I knew them very well (and knew they had a morbid sense of humor). But on the internet it is impossible to know your audience so if you are easily offended about anything at all, it is not the best place for you.
