The article seems to imply that animal control attempted to tranquilize the dog, failed, then said, **** it, put the dog down.

It also seems that rescuing a pit is a bad plan. Imagine the average pit owner, then consider the kind of owner who has their dog taken away, or possibly worse, voluntarily brings the dog in.

What's the reason, sir?

"It's not aggressive enough. It killed two cats last night, but didn't take out the nine year old riding her bike down the street. For some reason, the dog doesn't seem to enjoy drinking pig blood and only drinks water."

This was out of character for the dog,” Spaans said. “There was indication early in its life that it was wound up, a little hyper, but there was no history of violence.”

It only ripped one child's face off before. I can't believe that dog did it again.

Totally out of character!

Noone could have predicted something like this. "This wasn't a normal thing, this dog has never acted like this before."

140 lbs? That’s either a misprint, it was crossed with a Great Dane, or it was not a pit.

Hmm. the dog "shatters misconceptions" simply because it hasn't yet mauled or killed anyone? Every pit bull hasn't yet attacked anyone at some point, and after it does, its owner always says the attack was totally unexpected.

I was on a beach in California not that long ago and a couple had three Great Danes that we’re catching sticks in the waves. The biggest one must have been 200 pounds and was intimidating AF. My big dog is 110 pounds and he can definitely be intimidating to strangers but this Dane was in a wholly different league.

The comment stream is pretty epic: it compares clipping a dog’s ears to male circumcision, along with the usual level of Internet insults.

Actually, owners don’t always say that. Often they do, but it certainly isn’t always.

I clipped my dog's ears because his girlfriend prefers it for when she sucks him off. I sold the tissue to Maybelline for a shekel.
