Honestly that's kind of the point of the difference between pits/dangerous dogs and other dogs. It's easy to have a lapse for a few seconds but other dogs won't kill your child (mostly)
This is the point pit fans don't get when they say "pit bulls are less likely to bite you than chihuahuas."

What is the solution? This isn't like guns; it can be solved in less than 50 years.

I think most of us are on the same page: ban owning un-neutered pit bulls under penalty of immediate seizure. Problem solves itself in one generation (of dogs, not people).

There's a non-stop supply of pits getting seized from dog fighting rings. That's generally the point of entry. Most humane societies neuter all pit bulls (before giving them to people to terrorize neighborhoods).

How much safer is a neutered dog/Pit than not?

It can be solved much quicker than that. Ban them. Allow police officers to kill any on sight. Would probably also have the added benefit of quenching cop bloodlust and saving a few black lives in the process.

Yeah, surely authorizing more police shootings is the way to go.

EDIT: This thread is basically the horrible facebook status thread of 2p2. Above post prime example.

Saw this posted on Facebook. Thought about putting it in the FB thread, but figured it is actually better suited for here.

The pit bull broke free of his chain and lunged for Andrew’s neck. We spoke with Lori Myles of the Mobile County Sheriff’s Office who described the attack based on the report, “The dog was on a chain, he was chained up and there were several children playing and the dog broke free and attacked the six-year-old.” The dog then repeatedly shook young Andrew by his neck.

Why do people choose to own pitbulls?
Seems like the vast majority of owners do it only for image, because they think it makes them cool, and not because they actually want a good pet.

Some mouth breather lost their pit bull and put up lost posters for it near my home, I torn that crap down if you can't keep an eye on a pit bull you don't need it back. Nice job caring for your animal moron.

I have neighbors that has one ( An American bully fatter and lazier than normal pits still I don't trust it or them) thanks to this thread I now carry a knife anytime I'm outside in case it gets loose.

OLYMPIA, Wash. -- A 92-year-old woman has life-threatening injuries after being attacked by four dogs Sunday at her neighbor's home in Thurston County.

The Thurston County Sheriff's Office says the deputies were called to the Scott Lake Community when a woman returned home to find her neighbor -- the 92-year-old woman -- being attacked.

One of the dogs belonged to the homeowner. She was watching the other three for a relative.

Deputies say the elderly woman often lets herself into her neighbor’s residence because the neighbor helps her with day-to-day tasks.

The victim was airlifted to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle. Animal control also responded to the scene to possibly quarantine the dogs.

The dogs were identified as:

An adult male Pitbull/Lab mix
An adult female Pitbull/Heeler mix
A juvenile male Pitbull/Lab/Heeler mix
A juvenile female Pitbull/Lab/Heeler mix

Saw an idiot driving on the freeway in the rain with his untethered dog in the back of a truck. The dog's feet were on the edge of the truck bed - one slip and he's tumbling forward into traffic at 60 mph. Utterly unshockingly when I got up close the dog was a large pit bull.

Most of the pit owners I've come across chose them because they like that they're literally rescuing them from death, I suspect.

Then again, I spend much more time around people who work at/with animal rescues than the thuglyfe crowd, so YMMV.

Yes the standard lifecycle of a pit bull seems to be: born into thug life -> abandoned -> adopted by a bleeding heart do-gooder -> put down for mauling a toddler.
