Pretty good on first listen, might even be better than Volume One.

Anyone here like the first one at all or looking forward to this?

A little less M. Ward on this one, but I like it about the same as the first.

At least explain what the hell you're talking about.

Pretentious flavor of an intentionally vague op makes me think we're dealing with Indie music here.

apparently it's an album by some guy named m. ward and zooey deschanel.

its a shame that zooey deschanel is so pretty otherwise she would have developed a personality

Highlights from this NPR survey should help.

"In their leisure time, they are 79% more likely to birdwatch, 67% more likely to play chess, and 42% more likely to collect electric trains."

Listening to it for approximately 5 seconds confirms that it is, in fact, pretentious indie crap.

thanks a lot for the heads up OP!

Never heard of em before, but giving it a quick skim on youtube its the kinda stuff i usually like but i just cant for some reason. Kinda like how my friend insisted id love Florence and the Machine and after several listens i just cant get into Lungs at all (except one song which i do really like, weird that).

I suspect it might be Zooey's singing voice, or the way she misspells her name, but it just doesnt click, though ill give Vol 1 a spin sometime tomorrow and see. Some things i just didnt "get" first time, like Biffy Clyro or Get Cape Wear Cape Fly.

I'm listening to Volume One now because of this thread, and I kinda like it. I've heard a lot worse.

When ham on rye and I agree on something in regard to indie music it's pretty much a sure thing.

This album is terrible. She and Him are just banking off of Zooey's attractiveness; it's pretty shameful

If you've got to have a "quirky" and hot female lead singer with a band that plays better indie music, check out Rilo Kiley.

Yea, this is called "not being a good singer" and "not being able to sing in key" and it's not something I want to have to get used to.

as a person who likes pretentious indie rock, this blows so far.

lol. I listened to an interview with M. Ward and Zooey on the BBC a couple weeks ago and it was painful. The interviewer after said "it was like pulling teeth".

I loved the first She & Him album. Volume two isn't nearly as good imo.

love, Zooey, love pretentious indie crap, but this crap bores me to tears. As did their first album.

Ok, we get it - you think this is pretentious indie crap. Now hurry along to Golden Corral so you can meet up with all your morbidly obese relatives.
