pretty standard to do carry-on only for business travel

saves a lot of time since you don't have to wait for the baggage carousel thing, and makes it easier if you want to get on an earlier flight

i check my bags when i'm travelling with the family

cliffs: I hate carry on baggage. either you carry it or it goes under.
This. I ****ing hate those ****s.

last time i flew southwest there was a dog on one of the front plane seats and i thought about this from last time, glad there's a new thread!

i may try to take advantage of this loophole next time i fly

i normally pay and put my dog under the seat which is fine, most of the time people don't even notice that i have a dog

but if i could get her on for free that would be cool

actually one time the people by me wanted me to take her out and i was a bit annoyed, i kinda prefer she isn't on my lap or my space gets a bit cramped

gobbo should think about the mental issues of the people at chipotle who are yelling at his dog and how it affects them

a thread on mental health could be good

personally, i think it's all in our heads

You can't blame people for bringing too much carry-on. That is totally on the airline gouge of pricing out check-in luggage. I'm mean the cargo holds must be basically empty compared to what they used to be.

What tilts me most is having stuff stolen out of my check-in luggage. I've had 2 instances of it and they were a nightmare to deal with. They have all this airport security but obv those ****ers go through and take whatever the **** they want with little chance of recourse.

Ya they dont give 2 ****s about stealing, zero repercussions for the workers, so they steal as much as they want. i mean a baggage handler is a service worker job for borderline ******s, like a mcdonalds worker - only with even more freedom to steal.

one time they stole $100 from my moms purse on one of the 1st vegas trips i did. ****ing hate people in general but i was seething this time, we knew they stole $100 and i could see the cu nt standing at his post, if assault was legal i would have done it. but we had to just sit there and wait for the flight, knowing we got robbed and could do nothing about it. its an odd feeling, because usually you have no idea who went thru your bag, we knew exactly who did it. cocky little **** eh? but i was in ****in america land of the pigs so i decided to pay the toll.

What excuse do you give the c***s who cram their way oversize rigid samonite in the overhead luggage taking up all the space. **** those people.

The airlines should enforce their own rules. If it don't fit in the twatty 'carry on must fit in here' thingy make the bastards check it.

security just took it, near the scanners before sitting in waiting area? he claimed something showed up on the xray. he walked like 15 feet away and rummeged thru it, when we got it back 60 seconds later it was -$100 lol. I had just handed her the money too 10 mins before, it either disappeared into the nethervoid or it was stolen.

I do not believe this story.

When you put a purse through the x-ray scanner and it is flagged for secondary screening, they pull it, find the owner after they go through the metal detector/body scanner, and bring it to a table and screen it while you watch.

I have a very hard time believing a TSA agent pulled it from the x-ray machine, walked 15 feet away and "rummeged thru it", stole the cash, and then handed it back.

You realize that like, there are cameras recording everything in the screening area, right? Why didn't you report this obvious crime to one of the many police officers in the airport?

I think the TSA is a joke, but naah. I suppose this could have happened in some third world country or something, I guess.

+1 on wishing airlines would enforce their carry-on rules. Seeing one person take up an entire overhead bin with their oversized roller, backpack, and random bag is crazy.

Obviously less social harm is done by option 1.

Dogs are dirty, smelly, lick, irritating, etc. They're worse than babies. That a dog is small is nothing. My kid got bit in the face by a nasty small dog.

Finally, this is a USA#1 problem. Even euros aren't so precious as to need dogs to prevent them from freaking out. They just suck it up and have early heart attacks like normal people.
I hate when some ******* lets there kids get too close to a little dog followed by the kid doing something dumb and fast and gets a bite in the face. It really is a traumatic event for the dog.

My son lost some nice stuff (a nice multi-tool and a laser) worth a couple hundred dollars to theft from his checked bag a couple years ago. Note that given what it was, carrying it in the carry-on wasn't an option. Of course he filed a claim against the airline (it may have been TSA who stole it but the airline is legally responsible), only to discover that the lost baggage policy excludes essentially anything valuable. The list of exceptions was about 30 categories long, with many sub-categories, and what was left was basically inexpensive clothes. So when stuff gets stolen (which must be happening more, now that TSA gets to go through everything and it's not even legal to lock your bag) you're ****ed.

I believe it. Half the TSA agents I see look like they're on home release, trying hard to hide their neck tattoos. The metallic anti-counterfeit strip probably showed up on the scanner and some sleazebag that was short on rent for the week probably figured it for easy pickings.

For me, the frustrating part is that the emotional makeup of these emotional support animal people is such that they completely do not care if the person sitting next to their dog has allergies or PTSD from being attacked by a dog or whatever.

From the flyer forums, if your dog takes a smelly **** all over the plane the standard play is to get everyone's name and address and promise to send gift cards but then do not send them.

LOL at the turkey on the plane. I would gladly go get drunk at the airport bar for a few hours waiting for the next flight rather than sit next to that. It would be flapping dander around and pecking at you the whole flight.
