Seemingly innocent activities that are almost all risk, little reward. Seemingly innocent activities that are almost all risk, little reward.

1) Any person in a position of power, influence, or has any recognition at all, making a Twitter account and making that first post. It cost cost people billions of dollars (firings, resignations, criminal complaints, and more). The reward is so small, that Twitter is one of the highest risk activities you can do. There should be a public service flashback campaign....Just Say No.

2) An attractive female getting a tattoo of any kind. Followed by an attractive female getting a tramp stamp, followed by an attractive female getting a tattoo on the back of her neck. Followed by any female getting a tattoo, followed by any male getting a tattoo. There aren't many activities that you will be judged negatively if you do NOT have a tattoo. Not many careers and human interactions that will be denied to you if you don't have a tattoo.

3) Any young college grad, or any young person with reasonable intelligence, becoming an Uber driver. This is almost all risk and no reward. Once you go down the rabbit whole, how would you ever be able to totally quit? When you should be trying to put yourself to the test and figure out a path forward, this is the ultimate path of least resistance that will get you nowhere. Too easy to just turn the app on and pick up a fare, if you are totally broke and need money. But it won't get you anywhere, and it is not the type of activity that has a compounding of knowledge effect, where you increase your worth over time. The world was fine without Uber. It will ruin many young people's lives.

How about some good examples that you feel are quite risky, yet that risk is generally overlooked by the person getting started. Nothing like cigarettes, as everyone accepts that it is a totally risky deal with zero reward for society (would have been in the thread 40 years ago). I would make a case that legalizing marijuana everywhere is almost all risk, with little reward. Does society really want millions of young people doing this? It was fine like it was....decriminalizing it. But I will stick to the three I listed above as my main activities that bring far more negative consequences than positive, when people begin the seemingly innocent journey. As a whole, these activities bring tons of risk, with little reward...Twitter, Tattoos, Uber driving.
