I vote yes.

Outrageous to try to profit off a massacre. Yeah I get itm you were very unlucky to be put in a crappy situation and shouldnt have to go thru that but what the ehll, be grateful you are alive. Why go after people who dont deserve to be hurt further? for exampe suing the guardians of Cruz? Thats low. They were good loving people taking in a troubled teen and did all they could for him . Its not their falt the kid went ntus and shot up a school. Why sue them? Thats so mean.

Some "hero " this punk is, damn

Don't know if scummy is the right word.

It appears to be a frivolous lawsuit. It's the American way.
04-18-2018 , 08:48 AM
"Profit" doesn't mean what you think it does.
04-18-2018 , 08:50 AM
Not scummy and I think you are simple minded OP

I broke my hand and the surgery bills were north of 20k. I can't imagine what a hospital bill must be like from those types of injuries.

Pay the kid his manies. I don't believe for 1 second the "foster parents" didn't realize that they were living with a potential psycho. Especially after the countless issues at school, visits from law enforcement, racially motivated threats towards other students, & violent attacks on classmates before the shooting.
04-18-2018 , 10:30 AM
in cases like this the government should pick up the hospital bill imo

Id like you to explain it then. ARe you claiming the person is going to use it for medical bills? He will probbaly get something outrageous like 9 million for this i bet. He doesnt deserve that. Seems like a nice profit to me
04-18-2018 , 11:12 AM
He's not making a profit. He's recovering damages. Damages include things like actual out of pocket and compensation for his pain and suffering caused by the injuries. You may think what he is awarded is "outrageous" for all of the bullet holes he's been filled with, the months he has been in the hospital, all of the surgeries, possible loss of use of parts of his body, etc., but all that matters is what a jury thinks is a fair award. But I do think that you're insane if you think what this kid has gone through is worth $9 million. I wouldn't go through what he has for $9 million.
04-18-2018 , 11:27 AM
He's not chasing a profit.
04-18-2018 , 11:29 AM
FWIW OP's racist post has been deleted.

OP I haven't banned anybody since 1984. Don't make me get my hands dirty.
04-18-2018 , 11:30 AM
There needs an option to vote that OP is scummy.
04-18-2018 , 12:42 PM
suing is the american way. so is getting your name in the media once the public starts to forget about you

not like some foster parents have any real money to pay out damages anyway. go after the gun makers like jack mccoy did
04-18-2018 , 12:59 PM

How about a victims fund supported by a VAT on guns, a surcharge on political donations from the NRA, and a poll tax on anyone who wants to vote for someone who opposes stricter gun control?

I think they have his inheritance in their names now or something like that.
04-18-2018 , 02:50 PM
From what I gather all the warning signs were there and were also ignored.

At least partially (although it depends on where you fall on the gun rights spectrum).

They knew he was depressed/mentally unbalanced, but yet had no issues with him owning an AR-15. The dad says he made Cruz get a gun safe and could only take the guns out with permission, but claims he didn't know that Cruz also had a key to the safe.

Given the red flags, the couple should have made sure the guns were actually secure (I also doubt the story that they didn't know Cruz had a key to the gun safe - given it was a new safe they bought, it should have been pretty easy to make sure all the keys that came with the safe were accounted for).
