Hey, sorry, I've been on a big diablo 3 binge, just neglecting all my scramble games overall. I will play my tourney matches for sure though.

I've started doing updated simulations given the completed matches so far if anyone's interested; I'll run another one tomorrow morning.

I'm going to PM pickledpapaya a reminder since I had a game with him that he auto-resigned a little while ago. As for Bacon Sashimi, I've been playing with him a lot lately so he should be responsive.

I see Dubness had a nailbiter vs bosstronaut, 2 point loss.

DarkMemoria, Diablo 2 was one of my favorite games of all time and I spent countless hours playing it and had a bunch of lvl 99s. I'm not allowing myself to buy Diablo 3 because I've got too many things going on and it would no doubt consume me, but I'm planning on getting it later in the summer.

I think the round robin stage was way more difficult to complete than what we've got going now, actually, but somehow all 24 players managed to finish it in a reasonable time frame. We can consider coming up with rules and time limits for unresponsive players, but I'm also fine with playing it by ear and forfeiting games whenever one or two matches become bottlenecks.

If anyone of you want a challenge, go play shtarkshark. I put up 3k against him recently and still lost by 1200, including him smashing 135 words in round 3 and the top 15 words as well

Lost rounds 1 and 2 by a combined ~150 points to blackize in the first game of our quarterfinal match, had a big round 3 to win though. About to start game 2.

If I make it to the semifinals I might try to record some of my rounds with a camera and post them here. I'm out of town now but could try that over the weekend.

I still haven't heard from pickledpapaya in a while, I think he's the only player unaccounted for since 2p2 went down. Has anyone played with him recently?

Also looking forward to the next tournament, the more I think about it the more I like a double-elimination playoff format with 1 game series. It would mean just about every game counts and it would give more of a chance for upsets, but it would also allow players to survive one bad game. I think it would work well with 16, 24, or 32 players. As for the seeding round, I'd love to do another round robin if everyone is up for it.

Yeah I lost round 3 by like 600 points. I missed a -ch suffix that could easily be paired with the triple word until the last like 10 seconds.

I am in favor of a double elim type deal next time around.

Just had a tie with triumph44 in our first tourney match. If any round is gonna have an upset, it's here! Super close.

I'm a little embarrassed to not know this but can someone help me out with the odds of your opponent holding a certain tile? For example I know there are seven T's at the beginning of the game, I hold two and two have been played. There are 60 tiles in the bag and my opponent obviously holds seven. Three T's remain, but 3/67 obviously isn't correct because he has seven tiles. How do I figure out the actual probability? Additionally what if I want to figure out the probability of him also having the Q?

I think in future tournaments the best way to handle ties would be to award an extra point to whoever was leading after round 2 (or 1, if that's also a tie). For now you can just discard the result or whatever you want since we dont have a policy on ties.

As for calculating the probability your opponent is holding a certain tile, here's how to do it: Let's say there are 60 unseen tiles left, 3 of which are T's.

The chance he has no T's is 57/60 * 56/59 ... * 50/53, since he has 7 tiles. The chance he has a T is 1 minus the series above. In practice it would vary a bit since he might like holding on to T's for bingos (more likely he has a T) or using them early just to make words (less. Likely).

Did Scramble take away the option to have 3 power-ups? They have it briefly, but I can only have 2 now..

Sigh. Threw away what could've been an upset in the 1st game of my knockout match vs chronick. Beat him in Round 1 which literally never happens (my only victories come from 3rd round big scores) and then gave it away and ended up losing by 150 or so. God dammit.
