Lost a game to yeti by one point. So frustrating. He almost dropped a triple word bingo on me in that game as well. I'll keep on playing you yeti if you want. Also looking for some new competition, challenge chisco87 if you feel like it.

beat chipsahoy 353-351, was a good game.

8 moves into my current game vs my sister (4 each) and i've played 2 bingos - hoarding and refines. hoarding wasn't on any dw/tw so it was only like 50 pts

yeah those are depressing or its a dl on a S or something

finally broke 100pts on a single play with Azole, Z on tl, E on tw, then the game glitched and is currently mia lol

lol i try to avoid this but it definitely happens. i even consider 10+ too many...i tend to play the friends that suck first to cut the number down...then take a WWF siesta...then try to actually be competitive against the good people.

If anyone is interested, Im "baby stuey". I typically have ~15 games going at once (8-9 against one person), and my scores are typically in the 300-350 range.

My weekend play is slowish (1-2 moves per day) but during the week I typically can make 5 or 6 moves per day.

Playing a game with my mom. She says: "if I hit double and triple word tiles with one move, do they double it and then triple it, or triple it and then double it?"

3rd bingo in one game and the letters that came in are 'iseases' (came in that order) looking for an open d

my friend just dropped ECTOPI(A) for a 96 pt bingo/triple word in what was previously a tie game. the A was a blank. that alone i'm thinking it's over 95% he's cheating...and have kinda suspected this for a while (we just started and i'm down 0-3). he's smart. but come on. he just seems to drop weird words at the right times (this game he dropped VESTA for TW connecting the A for AB...he bingo'd me 3 times LOTTING, DE(R)IVES, RUSTIER...those aren't individually as crazy but all of them kinda is...last game and only won by 50)

the games are close nonetheless so i don't mind playing a juiced up player, but is there any way he's not cheating?

thoughts?

I don't cheat and I've laid 'hoarding' 'bracket' and 'refines' on my sister. If I wasn't behind from waiting to get 1 letter here and there for them I would have gone for 4 with 'disease(s)'.

A lot of times I get big words because I'll put something like V or K on the TL and try to fill in the blanks. In a game that doesn't penalize you for putting out multiple tries and getting wrong words you can sometimes end up with words you never knew existed before.

Been playing this obsessively lately. Some random thoughts--

--The higher scoring (routinely getting 400+ points these days) has totally ruined me for regular Scrabble. Played it IRL with my cousin last week and it seemed boring not having TLS/TWS combos all over the place and finishing in the low 300s.

--The smaller bonus for bingos (did they just lower it from 35 to 25 or am I crazy?) makes for a totally different strategy from Scrabble...on at least one occasion I passed up a bingo for a shorter word that actually scored higher.

--The lack of desire to learn any strategy whatsoever (from players that enjoy the game and still want to play all the time) amazes me, guess it's the same attitude that breeds fish in poker. One friend, who typically leaves me open for 5+ TWS a game, made my head asplode a couple weeks ago when she played EXPEL, using her blank as an E, in a spot where she managed not to cover a single bonus square (that's not easy to do). Note this was in the middle of the game, not in garbage time or anything.

--Being able to try different words does make it a different game, and makes it hard to distinguish between someone who's cheating, brilliant, or just very patient in trying a zillion letter combinations every turn. I almost get kinda bummed when I put down a semi-obscure bingo (I used to study the common "bingo stems" like AEINST, which makes like 80+ different words with any 7th letter except J, Q, and Y) and I know my opponent will probably assume I'm cheating.

This is going to be an unpleasant end game, such a ridiculously defensive game

If it's been played this closed, though, opponent is good enough to know he has the Q and won't let him play it (maybe he'll play the last S forgetting about SUQ, but I don't see how it'll be in a spot where you can fit it anyway). COY will net you 16pts, and if your spot for the B doesn't get used, you should be OK. Especially if he can't go out either and the Q only costs you 10pts instead of 20.

Isn't BUOY for 26 the better play? Unless I'm missing something about not being able to play anything on a following turn.

Edit: I think you might be able to play the lone I for more than QI if your opponent doesn't help you out with an opening on his turn, too.

agree that buoy is the optimal play here

also in the middle of a game that my last 3 plays were aha, hah and hah again all involving either triple H's or double word

Completely missed BUOY, good call. Small chance that this opens your opponent up to play a longer word to go out, though (I'm too lazy to count the A's on the board).

just started playing, and am not very good yet. Basic words, still figuring out strat, etc.

But need more games, and maybe getting slaughtered by some of you will help me get better.

Invite me if you don't mind playing someone that won't give you much of challenge

hoarding/bracket/refines are common words, ectopia isn't

yeah a lot of random words come from guessing with placing a high point letter and trying to get something to work, if a is the only letter that bridges it's less likely to be cheating, and just randomly gettting there
