The paid app is called "Words With Friends"

If you just search for Words in the app store it's the 2nd option, $1.99. Way worth it.

Yeti I would snap challenge "yill" in real scrabble.

yes. however i would never play it in real scrabble, because i would not be able to discover its existence via trial and error.

Yeah, you're always like "this is bull****, they didn't know that was a real word" but then I go to fit a word in and realize that it doesn't fit...except that "aa" is apparently a word, etc.

what's annoying is that apparently wwf doesn't acknowledge some legit 2 letter scrabble words such as oe. I am pretty sure I tried to play that and it said it was no good. wtf wwf I didn't waste part of my life memorizing 2 letter and 3 letter words to have you go and reject them!

oe and oi both work in WWF.

My favorite part of WWF is putting down words I didn't know existed and then googling them to come up with not only their definition but a plausible back story as to how I knew it was a word to defend myself against accusations of pulling words out of my ass.

my least favorite part of wwf is losing to yeti over and over, and yet i keep coming back for more. i thought i was good, i already know when i do finally beat him, i'm probably gonna screen cap and make it my iphone background for like a month...

You are driving me crazy fwiw. That and the fact that I against you I am getting a neverending parade of vowels. And then when I tried to swap them I got MORE VOWELS. I am so tilted at tile gods right now.

Also - is there anyway to see how many tiles your opponent has left on their rack during end game? Other than actually counting tiles on the board.

We need a WWF strategy thread, I struggle with choosing between swapping and making a crappy word.

Also, my go-to source of bull**** is trying proper nouns because like half of them inexplicably count. What is a "texas"? I have no idea.

Eh, just read a scrabble strat book and it's essentially the same. Although the wwf board is set up differently enough that some adjustments must be made. It incentivizes a certain style of play that effectively makes most of the board unusable which is really effing annoying and not very fun. Also, given the placement of bonus tiles, it gives a pretty sick advantage to anyone lucky enough to get J, Q, Z, especially now that Q and Z have two letter words available (in the OSPD3 they didn't, making Q a letter you wanted off your rack ASAP).

heres a free hint: when you drop a word, try not to drop a vowel right next to a 3l tile. if you do, there is a stronger chance of your opponent dropping a high value tile (3,4, 8, 10) on that 3l, and making 2 2l words out of it. for example, say you drop heat, and the 3l is next to the a. i could drop za right on top heat, and make za, za, and at, but since the z is a 3l, that would count as a 64 point word with only 2 tiles used.

if you drop a consonant next to it, then you have to use a vowel next to it to do the 2 letter word strategy, a, e, i and o are worth 1 point, and u are worth 2 points.

I was sad that for my first word against offTopic I learned that WWF will not take a certain word that rhymes with hunt.

Ok has anyone else had this problem with wwf?

I'm getting notified that it's my turn for a couple games. When I open the game board, though, it's showing my last turn and that it's still my opponent's turn. I can't play. It's not doing this for all the games, just two. I was able to play my turn for other games recently.
