teabag him. it sounds gross, but if he keeps waking up with nuts on his lips, he'll want to move out.

Re: Roommate from Hell

maybe having a lathe in the l.r. violates the lease? let the landlord know and see if he wants to do something about it.

Can we get a pic of the lathe in the living room?

That's just too funny... do you have wood dust all over the place? Or does he not actually use it in the apt?
Yea here ya go. Roommate is pictured. TV is behind the shaft.

Seriously, we need this pic of the lathe in the living room.I didn't know what a lathe was prior to this thread and I'm just rolling on the floor in laughter right now. If my roommate ever did this he would get a knee to the balls. This is hilarious

wtf, [censored] no, you confront him and tell him to stop stealing your [censored].
I guess I assumed that this had already happened. If you post a thread on OOT before you say anything to him, you've got some issues of your own.

Be happy all it will cost you is a one-time cancellation fee. Small price for a life lesson. At least you won't have to pay him (or his lathe) any alimony.

Re: Roommate from Hell

Tell him that the 3 of you don't enjoy living with him anymore and tell him you are going to break the lease and find a new place. He will offer to move out himself, rather than try and find 3 new people to fill the space. You pay his fee.

Problem solved.

DaveR,

How the [censored] do you not know what a lathe is?

Step up your woodworking game.

Honesty and being straight forward seems to be the best policy. Tell him he's been an ass. If he continues to be unreasonable- start thinking about ways to make him not be there anymore.

Also you need to turn the lathe into something that can be used in drinking games or otherwise misuse it.

Dids, Being in the dark about lathes seems like a small thing compared to being ******ed about roommates.

Re: Roommate from Hell

You guys are really cracking me up. I'm sure the lathe isn't what you're imagining. I'll try to get a pic up. Good idea about the lathe breaking the terms of the lease though.

Re: Roommate from Hell

i think my biggest pet peeve in the universe is when someone buys something they cant take back, and then when they realize they cant have it for some reason they say "well, its too late now, i already did that". no, fix your mistake. you cant just intentionally do something stupid and then not take responsibility for it. you guys should throw his lathe into the street.

Re: Roommate from Hell

You should leave a note on the lathe that goes like this...

"You are a real f-ing a-hole. Next time you block my living room with this lathe, I'm having this piece of garbage towed and ticketed. You got a f-ing problem with that, just let me know you f-ing c sucker."

Then he'll probably leave you a note on your door that is polite and briefly explains the situation with his lathe and that it did not appear to him that he was blocking your living room, and that if it was such a big problem you should just have the lathe towed instead of writing a tough guy letter. He may also put his name and apt # on the bottom....even though he lives with you.

Now here's the smart bit. You leave a THIRD note which lets him know that you're still in a bad mood and some other things. It shouldn't have the tough guy tone of the first note. At this point, the whole thing will be lame and he'll just move out anyways.

(apologies to hawk59)

Then we'll see the OOT post:

and it's all over.
