So one of the callers wanted them to start playing Rush, and the manager's response was that while he respected the caller's musical taste and happened to like Rush also, it didn't quite fit the format. Rush wasn't classic rock. But by the 90s they were playing Rush, and now I'd say Rush is pretty solidly entrenched as classic rock, or at least, good luck finding a "classic rock" station nowadays that won't play Rush.
Yeah, "Tom Sawyer" and "Spirit of Radio" were rotation staples on the classic rock station in the NY/NJ area (104.3) back in the 90s. I think I even heard them play "Subdivisions" once, lol, f'in horrible.
Anyway, just because "classic rock" stations had to relent to the mediocre taste of their fan base doesn't mean we should include Rush in the "classic rock" genre. I mean for f's sake, it's Rush! They suck, just fyi.

Haha, so you're on the Rush side of the argument? Geezus what is wrong with you people. Geddy Lee's voice makes me want to stab myself in the eye. Alex Lifeson actually seems like a cool guy and is clearly talented, too bad he has to be rememberd as being part of Rush and not some other group that doesn't suck.
