"With this said, the scientific literature on the benefits of reducing salt intake are mixed. There’s evidence showing that reducing sodium can lead to a modest but clinically relevant decrease in blood pressure.

[Some research also suggests] that the risks from high salt intake are overblown and excessive reduction can also be harmful. Many of these studies conclude… that reducing salt only lowers blood pressure slightly to moderately, and the reductions aren’t [significant enough] to change the risk of developing cardiovascular disease. Some of these studies also say that salt reduction won’t reduce risk of hypertension or cardiovascular disease in people with normal blood pressure."

Dmark,

Not sure why these guys are being dicks, prob cuz they are fatasses who don't want to admit they eat 50k calories at buffets. Anyway, I appreciate the insider info. Definitely a surprise to hear that stuff is frozen, in the commercials they show a fisherman dude catching it so I figured that is how it is everyplace. Do you know if it was just the one you worked at with frozen food or do you think other ones may have frozen food too?

Thanks my man.

Yhea all rl use all frozen foods. But most big chain restaurants do its cheaper. Bottom line and my original point is their food IS garbage.

Still confused on the frozen food thing. If I go to one where one of the people who Seas food differently works, those have fresh shrimp, right? Appreciate your feedback dmark.

eta: that promo is new though, so maybe dmark doesn't know. Did you quit because you weren't picked for a commercial?

dmark, no offense, but I kinda wish you hadn't stopped by this thread. I think maybe ignorance is bliss. I totally have my whole image of RL irrevocably broken by your insider info. Pretty sure I won't eat at RL after today.

People get too hung up on fresh vs frozen. Some things are better frozen, like french fries.

RL owns their own fishing companies so they take the top product for their restaurants and sell the rest to grocery stores etc. which help to keep the quality high. The best thing about RL is their consistency. You can walk into a store in Tampa or KC and everything will taste the same.

dmark,

I am talking about what KVL mentioned above, the Sea Food Differently campaign which involves real fishermen and Red Lobster employees. They don't talk about frozen in any of those commercials, so maybe they changed things since you worked there? There are a bunch of them, here are a couple:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2kYL1...feature=relmfu - This one her husband is one of the fisherman and you can see even the pictures are from fresh fish

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wLEku...feature=relmfu - Here you can see a grill master actually cooking the fresh seafood

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OQLY0IGzH3I - Angela worked there for three years too! Do you know her? She seems really nice.

Yeah I'm familiar with their "I'm <insert name here>, and I see/sea food differently!" campaign. I think it's just that, a witty catch phrase to get consumers to remember their brand. But I want to hear what dmark has to say about it before I can be sure.

I'm sorry dmark, but I'm still trying to get my head around the fact that you think food drowning in butter is a bad thing. We certainly live in different worlds...

BTW it isn't butter. It is some kind of butter sauce concoction. Some made to look perfectly clarified when they bring it out with crab, lobster, etc. It comes is gallon jugs. Just don't imagine that they are melting sticks of butter in the kitchen. It is the same stuff that is mixed with garlic to top the biscuits and shrimp scampi.

The last time the fiancee and I were at RL, we sat near a large (really large) biker type and his much smaller wife. They both had the ES and I noticed they matched each other serving for serving. If I remember correctly, they just did the first three types of shrimp listed earlier in this thread.
