I hate rating lists, which seems especially rampant in hiphop discussion, but TTCD > LW is just blasphemy really. Putting LW below HHNF is pretty nuts too, despite my love for that album. Maybe I'm just an old fogey though.

In other news, Nielsen Soundscan declared Eminem the best selling artist of the decade, besting the Beatles at #2. Pretty nuts.

seems about right, no? i mean all his albums save slim shady lp were released this decade and MM LP is the fastest selling album ever. combine that with his widespread appeal, longevity and the massive numbers all his albums do and i'd probably guess em off the bat if i were asked who the biggest seller was.

BP3 is mostly garbage and DOA wasn't that good, people need to stop perpetuating the contrary...

really wish that when I went to see Jay-Z next year it was J.Cole/Wale/N.E.R.D. and not Jeezy.

BP3 isn't either. It's probably Relapse. I am 100% sure it's not this mediocre Clipse album. They can do so much better.

I will be happy to recommend some good hip-hop in the unlikely event that there ever is any.

I think hip-hop was invented to make baby boomers understand how our parents felt about rock.

Your old ass felt the need to post here why? I am sure there is a Hair Band thread somewhere on the internet.

I just finished listening through Till the Casket Drops....I like it. I think it is a step behind Lord Willin and HHNF, but besides a couple tracks I feel like the album is pretty solid. +1 to those who liked the track Freedom, a great opening track is always guranteed to hook me into the rest of the album. My main critique of the album is that some of the choruses are kind of whack, but I think the production for the most part is solid, and in some places is excellent. After a couple more spins I might be able to put it in my top 5 rap albums of the year, but it almost certainly will not crack my top 3.

I feel like Clipse are 2000's Mobb Deep....similar raw drug/street violence content, similar underlying intensity...I think Clipse are slightly better lyrically though

I imagine I or someone else has mentioned this album a few times, but just in case......

Basically it's a ten year old mixtape from the then huge hype label Rawkus, featuring verses from vets and up and comers like Eminem, Mos Def, Kweli + Hi-Tek, Common, El-P, Pharoahe Monch, J Live, Pete Rock, Marley Marl, Grand Puba, RA The Rugged Man, Sadat X, Dilated Peoples, etc.

If you can get the whole album it's an awesome listen through with all the mixed in stuff etc, but some of the bigger tracks from it:

Common/Kweli/Sadat X:

Eminem:

Wow, I have about 30 gigs of hip hop on my comp and I'd never heard of this. Downloaded and gave it a listen. Very good stuff -- though that was evident from the tracklist alone.
