All,

Some friends of mine are currently in a contest with MTVu for the best video. Please check them out and vote for them a bunch of times as they are only in 2nd place by a small %. Please help out and check their music, they're very good.

Since this thread is here...

Gucci Mane is scheduled to come to a town here in south Georgia before long. For the past week on the local news, the county commission of that town has been trying to figure out a way to ban him from coming before he even gets here. So far, they haven't figured out a way to do it that doesn't violate free speech.

Now, I don't even know who this dude is. They showed a short (muted) clip of one of his videos with a beer in his hand, and I thought the dude was some kinda icon from the '70's or something that I never heard of.

Anyway, regardless, I hope the guy comes in and throws the most vulgar show in years. I get tired of these GD tight-ass closet-drinking county commissioners.

Yep Shady murdered that track, Drake held his own with the vets with a real nice verse, Wayne's verse was hilarious/outrageous, and Kanye's was standard Kanye. Awesome track.

Speaking of underrated, I would say Kurupt is one of the most underrated ever. Go back and listen to the G-Funk classic Dogg Food, by the Dogg Pound Gangstaz. Ull thank me later.

Blueprint 3 leaked.

I'm impressed. It's very solid throughout. Through one listen my favorite track is A Star is Born with Reminder a close second.

Kurupt was so good back then, but the stuff he has put out since is absolute trash. He fell off harder than any rapper ever IMO.

Basically a lot of the 'Hip-Pop' that seems to be out these days doesn't really do it for me. I'm from the UK and don't have music channels on my TV, and stuff that gets on the radio seems to be pretty mainstream.

I guess I'm pretty ignorant as to what is out there these days, and I know the U.S. has plenty more specialist TV and radio stations, so throw some recommendations my way - it seems there's plenty of Hip-Hop afficionados on 2+2.

I'm a big fan of East Coast stuff from the 90's - Das Efx, Mobb Deeps 'The Infamous' album, anything Redman, Jeru, Lords of the Underground, Black Moon etc etc,
From more recent years Mos Def, Talib Kweli ('Move Somethin' is the ****), Pharoahe Monch.

Also like a bit of French Hip-Hop, but know nothing about the scene - Kheops' 'Sad Hill All Stars' is awesome, and I've got a bit of Saian Supa Crew but that's about it.
And to any Kiwis out there, I've got King Kapisi's 'U can't resist us' which I love - he got anything else I might enjoy?

What I'm NOT looking for - Tracks like the recent 'This is Why I'm Hot' - I gather this was a big hit in the states? Makes me sad to think that this is what Hip-Hop has evolved to but, whatever, one mans trash is another mans treasure.

Oh, and no crunk.

Thanks in advance,

Baintz
Bro you live in the UK..There is good Hip-Hop in the Uk and the best Drum and Bass Comes out of the UK.

Also Props on having good taste in Hop-Hop though.

You should check out some 2-step (if it even still exists) I know live 5 yrs ago there was good 2 step coming out of England. (So Solid Crew I believe was on group)

Thoughts on "Forever Young"(http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w1nfXeAO5hk) by Jay? I've been bumping it constantly and think it could def become a classic.

my first listen but i think its pretty bad, the beat is horrible (not to mention i've never liked the song they sampled for the hook) and i hate Jay's flow on it...i'm not really a Jay Z fan though so w/e, about to give Blueprint 3 a listen but based on the songs he released this past year i'm not expecting much

Rae has still got that same dope flow, GFK is his standard self these two still make a great combo and the appearances from INS and Method Man were nice
