Being half black half jew, having a child acting job, were all things that were huge minuses against him. Being white ended up helping Eminem's career out massively. He wouldn't have done nearly the #s he's done if he was black. That's a fact. Eminem is putting out HORRIBLE music right now, but his music base is so strong that he still sells crazy units. Bezerk is a good example, even though that's flopping now and he had to package his disc with the new Call of Duty (lololololl). While Drake's single just passed his and is moving up the hot 100.
Drake made an anthem that caters to everyone. Achieving a goal, often times you start at the bottom and go to the top to achieve that goal. It has nothing to do with economic status. Drake has never tried to act like he's from the hood or anything like that. He's always been introspective, and tells the truth about his life. People who think he was rich growing up are just wrong, and to think he got in to the industry easily are very wrong.
He started from the bottom of the industry, making underground mixtapes before finally getting notice by chance from Wayne. He is now at the absolute top of the game. That's an awesome success story people can look up to. It seems achievable, and that's why Drake's Started from the Bottom is a great anthem. You start off a bench player, and end up being the star of your high school team. You started from the bottom. You don't have to be from the streets/ghetto and get rich to do that.
I grew up pretty poor, way worse off than Drake did. I could be a bitter hater like a lot of people are, but I'd rather just listen to good music. He tells the truth in his music, and that's a lot more than you can say for 90% of rappers out. Anyway I don't want to compare Em and Drake, no idea why you even brought up the two.
You're calling me an idiot and yet you can't figure out why when you mention drake having a hard time getting into rap, i bring up eminem? you even made comparisons - perhaps it's a bad example but i think there similar in terms of barriers they faced getting into rap.
It's not the bottom though, it's more like half way there.
I think Drake never acting like he's from the hood is probably accurate - there have definitely been occasions where he's tried to play the tough guy when he's known so well for being one the, for want of a better word, "softer" artists though.

Something the mainstream admittedly lacks these days.
Jesus, you jump to so many conclusions. I'm not saying it about Drake at all - that's exactly why I do in fact like Drake. I just don't like listening to artists who aren't real/authentic (I think rick ross has made great tracks but there's something "off" about listening to someone whos background is very questionable).

I don't get why you'd call me a moron/idiot, just makes you look like a mad fan boy who can't take people criticizing your favorite artists..
