No one ever talks about K-Rino on here. Anyone have any opinions?

Anyone heard of the production team "Cookin Soul"? They have a lot of blend albums on their myspace, basically they take lyrics from somewhere else and put them on their own beats. They re-did the entire A.W.O.L. album and it's amazing, and as you would expect from their name, it's all soul-influenced beats so theres an old school feel to it. So for those like me that like AZ but hate the horrible beats he always picks, D/L for free here. I'd say the only song they didn't outdo the original on is Premo's "The come up".

They got some other blend tapes on there, One is a compilation of Jay, Nas, 50 (hmm which one doesn't belong lol) songs but I haven't listened to it yet.

I completely agree, sometimes he's just so homophobic and Islam like hateful with what he says that I can't listen.

Here's a song where Apathy and Planetary completely dominate Vinnie Paz

Vinni, Apathy, Planetary- When You Need Me

Connected by Foreign Exchange is a good album. Definitely worth checking out if you want to hear something fresh than the usual mainstream hip-hop on the radio. It is a collaboration by Phonte from Little brother and a Dutch producer called Nicolay. It is the work of two Artists from different backgrounds combining their skills to put out a solid album.

Woah, hadn't checked this thread in months and now it's massive. Plenty of stuff for me to get my ears into.

Seeing as how my OP was asking for reccomendations for newer stuff, thought I'd give a little back and list some tunes that I thought were the ***** in their day (and still listen to some now) as a lot of the posters in this thread would have been like 5 years old when they first came out.

Off the top of my head :

Soul by the Pound - Common Sense (now known as just 'Common')
We Getz Buzy - Illegal feat. Erick Sermon
Players Ball - Outkast
Myintrotoletuknow - Outkast
Classic Material - Leaders of the New School
Drop the Needle - Maestro Fresh Wes
They Want Efx - Das Efx
Come Clean - Jeru the Damaja
Chief Rocka - Lords of the Underground
Time 4 Sum Aksion - Redman
Blow your Mind - Redman
Flava in Your Ear Remix - Craig Mack
Strictly Business -EPMD
93 til Infinity - Souls of Mischief
Bring It On - Geto Boyz
Mic Checka - Das Efx
Mad Izm - Channel Live

Most of the above are on YouTube.
Thanks to the legendary Yo! MTV Raps for providing me some good music whilst growing up when most people my age were listening to boring ass indie music or hardcore rave *****.

There's also a quality freestyle session (Rakim, Erick Sermon, Redman, Method Man, Chubb Rock, Craig Mack and more) on the last ever Yo! show (link below). I remember watching it live, and rewatching it now almost brings a tear to the eye. Great days......

So can anyone tell me why a rapper as horrible as Plies gets any national radio play at all?

I mean, he's so bad he shouldn't even have an independent fanbase.

New Crooked I is obviously ridiculous.

This Wes Craven's a thug, I'm tech waving
Making you a rest haven for slugs, your chest cave in
You meet your death, face in the mud, I'm neck breaking
Die in your vest, tasting your blood, I'm breathtaking

gotta take rappers for what their worth. he has a couple of jams with tpain that bang for the clubs... nothin crazy but good background music.

for the dude talking about R.A. that dude is crazy, does he still make music? I remember a song from 6-7 years ago Smithhaven Mall he had that was insanely violent. It was on a Stretch Armstrong mixtape... he has a sick verse on his ssong from Soundbombing I that old rawkus mix series (2 was much more popular). I think the song was called Til my heart stops.
