its more or less the same beat as on the Mary J Blige ft. Smiff N Wessun "I Love You" remix (also a good song). Its been used a lot.

Freestyle rarely translates to anything other than freestyling. It doesn't make you write better, or sound better or even flow better. And definitely doesn't add up to much in dollars, that's for sure.
This is wrong other than the dollars part.

I wouldn't exactly say terrible. He was decent. And about the freestyle thing.. name me a few rappers that made [retail] record deals through freestyle. There aren't many. And just because you can freestyle doesn't mean you'll have an incredible flow or [song] writing skills. That's just my opinion though. I'm sure there are some exceptions.

Again, I'm not saying you'll make money or get a record deal. But yes, it will improve your rap skills. It's just practice. And yes, it can help you write stuff because you're just practicing.

And yes, Em was terrible. 90% of the **** you heard his "freestyles" on was written.

Em was like allllllllll prestyle.

Jin was pretty nasty because he was just sooooooooooooo easy to make fun of, yet he almost always managed to rip people and overcome the obvious handicap. I think he put out an album, remember hearing he turned into a Christian rapper or something but not sure.

FWIW, I think true freestyles are boring as hell to listen to, I'd much rather listen to something structured that required some thought being put into it, as opposed to flipping off the top of the head.

While I totally agree with you, you don't have to be the emergency "Em may have just been badmouthed" response team.

Phresh is a pretty big fan iirc, and I actually hold his prestyles in a special place in my heart, just simple discussion that he couldn't freestyle well despite popular perception.

If freestylers were good at writing they'd be good at making records. If freestyling made you flow better then some freestylers should be the best out there.. but it doesn't. It's just that, practice. You get good at practicing, but that's about it. Let's see the records.. where are they at?
