This is my favorite song off of one of my least favorite Dylan albums. Highway 61 way if often hailed in Rolling Stone and other questionable publications as one of Dylan's opuses, however, its never really resonated me as a cohesive, comprehensive piece of art, or whatever. I like songs on the album on their own (ballad of a thing man, queen jane, this one), but as an album, I think its kind of forgettable as just one tick above your dad's bluesrock band that covers stevie ray vaughn too much (too much being ever). That being said, I think this song has a great drunken fistfight in the coral next to the saloon kind of vibe to it. It also has that great indifferent swagger that is one of Dylan's trademarks. The plink plunk of the piano is very pleasing and probably the best aspect of the track for me.....
