My pony was slow! Your post wasn't there when I went looking for the thread. It's not my fault you're super fast as well as being super helpful! Isn't there a thread somewhere that needs locking?

Booze already. Purchase and pour, baby.
08-04-2018 , 08:50 PM
I got that one too. I still add more tequila, tho.

Beginning of that thread is pretty lol...didn't suzz once comment on how young people said he looked and then posted a picture where he looked a lot older than his posted age?

ETA: Regardless, lifetime pass for the Billy Corgan at Thanksgiving pics

ETA: Lifetime pass revoked for lack of hot chick pics on the PCH or whatev

I quite liked those shoes Mullen posted and then googled them and was like "Wtf are they doing in a cheap luxuries thread?" They're over $500 lol.

Its more the "luxuries that are affordable if ammortized over its life cycle" thread.

How long would those shoes last? If they lasted a decent amount of time it's not so bad but I have seen expensive shoes that fall apart after a year and that's just ridiculous imo. My friend bought a pair of shoes that were a bit over a grand and they weren't wearable after 6 months lol. I did buy a pair of shoes on sale once that were originally around $500 and they lasted about 6-7 years of consistent usage which I was pretty happy with. Plus they were super comfortable which often isn't the case with shoes for women.

Omg now they're onto mattresses and yes I agree you should pay more but this isn't a cheap luxury. I'm getting tilted now lol.

Amoeba summed it up better than me though.

Did Suzzer have a white rabbit avatar previously or am I confusing him with someone else?

Is there a mattress thread in OOT? I thought there was one but can't seem to find it.

I have owned two pairs (non-concurrently) of black dress shoes between ~1984 and now.

How often do you wear them? Funerals and weddings?
08-04-2018 , 11:45 PM
Blundstone boots last a crazy amount of time and they aren't even expensive really.

Pretty much

ETA: Actually, the earlier pair got worn a lot more because of things like HS band concerts and HS/college graduation. Current pair is for marryin' and buryin'

Rexx, please understand that there is no judgment here. Your boyfriend isn't straight. I'm sure you already knew that, but had to put it out there in the off chance you didn't know.

Unless of course that was a grand Australian, which I assume is $50 USD.

Rapini,

That was a friend you wally! Lol at my bf paying 500 bucks for shoes let alone a grand.

500 $ is steep for shoes. The most I paid is 300 and I like shoes. I felt on one side super happy and on another super dumb.

And the best quality.... hand made.... whatever shoes are not worth it, because after 5 years soles start to disintegrate just from age. However, comfortable high heels ( thing that doesn't exist) would be totally worth it.

Most I've ever paid for shoes is about $120 for hiking boots at REI. That was like 18 years ago. It seems like it's hard to get anything like that for less than $170 or so nowadays. I recently replaced them and looked and ended up going to work boot warehouse and getting something for $60. I like them though - very comfortable. I think $60 is the second most I've ever paid for shoes.

More ridiculousness from yesterday: some very drunk and very large German dude backed in to me while I was looking down at my phone, which clattered to the ground and shattered the screen. He turned and looked at me as if I was going to rage on him, but i just said, “**** happens” and he gave me a hug.

I ran across two undergraduates from my school on the late ferry back to my hotel. They were in an intense and somewhat emo conversation and ones pupils were super-dilated. So I said something mildly useful and got hugs from them too.

I needed to buy a nail clipper, which I did. When walking back from the abortive pancake run, I walked by this young couple. She had her shoes off and was working on one of her nails. I pulled the clipper from my pocket and handed it to her to a look of amazement and joy. Hug from her, handshake from him.

The mood in Amsterdam yesterday was terrific.
