i'm just going with bands that still record. If you include stuff as old as the beatles then you're answering the 'best band ever' question.

I'd much rather listen to something less known and keep that music to myself. You don't have to go flaunt every popular band that is also good.
That a sucky attitude, if didn't pick up new bands to listen to from people who like sort of stuff I do then i'd never listen to anthing after 1981.

Upon first listen I definitely am feeling Lotus Flower and Give Up the Ghost. Bloom and Little by Little, not so much and the rest are in between.

I have to approach RH albums differently than any others because the only album of theirs I enjoyed upon first listen was In Rainbows, and that may have been because I was already familiar with 75% of the tracks.

I hear a lot of Amnesiac and The Gloaming early on. The entire album definitely seems Thom heavy which makes me a little sad. Parts of the second half seems to be really fresh.

In Seperator, the line "If you think this is over, then you're wrong" coupled with it being in the last song of the album of only 8 tracks makes me a little interested if we're in for another surprise.

OK Computer is a timeless record.

Everything else... was pretty good.

Sorry about the quad posts above the forums were giving me errors earlier and I even checked to see if the post was going through before I'd try again.

If a mod could delete those that'd be great

Give up the Ghost turned out really well but I definitely prefer the acoustic version of Morning Mr. Magpie. Maybe it will grow on me.

This is how it should sound:

Also, the last track (Separator) was formerly known as Mouse Dog Bird. One thing for sure, they wrote a ton of great songs that didn't make the album. Hopefully they don't turn them all into techno dance tracks before releasing them.

They are a great band, but it's impossible to say they are the best. When you start weighing actual talented artists of this caliber, you start seeing a variety of unique styles and levels of complexity. It becomes very subjective to rate one over the other, when each bring something great to the table.

I voted yes, but I recognize they will not be to everyone's taste (they don't have the mass appeal of a band like Beatles).

Radiohead albums have virtually no filler and their style is always creative and changing. Even their b-sides, unreleased songs, collabs and live covers are great in my opinion. I have a pretty big collection of Radiohead music that is not on any of their LPs and I enjoy that stuff just as much (possibly just because I've listened to the albums to much).

I like the Pixies as an honorable mention. And if we were including electronic music then I might put Autechre > Radiohead, but it'd be close especially since Autechre is much more obscure and not really listener friendly.

1st listen atm, Pretty upset that an album this short has a track like "Feral"

I gave this album a couple of listens earlier and I'm not that enthralled. I love Radiohead, enjoyed every album except Pablo Honey. Kid A might be my favourite so I'm not against the electronic stuff. Shouldn't judge too early but it's like they decided to do away with melody.

I'm not giving up on it so soon (I answer yes to poll ITT) but I'm not digging so far...

Pretty sure it's going to end up as a double album, or at least the second Vinyl that ships with the newspaper album in May will have 6-8 b-sides like In Rainbows did. I can't see them offering 2 Vinyls for an 8 track album.

I gave it a few listens last night. I agree it's short and is likely the first half of a two part album. Lotus Flower, Codex, Separator, Bloom, Give Up the Ghost, Magpie, Feral, Little by Little in that order. Even the songs I didn't like on first listen will grow on me. The second half blew me away on first listen. MOAR
