BTW -The Verve and Echo and the Bunnymen are the greatest bands ever. (see, I told you music is subjective......)
The Verve = up there with the best seen them live also. Urban Hymns one of the most under-rated albums ever ... unless you were trollin'

The Bends has my 3 favourite Radiohead songs on it High And Dry, Street Spirit Fake Plastic Trees.

I'll always say Oasis are the best band ever though

Don't get me wrong about FPT 2003 - I love that video, but mostly because I'm familiar with the song. I doubt someone walking in to listening to RH for the first time would find it really impressive, save for Johnny shredding at the end, and Thom's voice is pretty smooth throughout.

Grunching, but this is a ridiculous thread, music is entirely subjective.

Something like "Radiohead's music has had the biggest impact of any band's music in this generation" would be fine, because you can make a much better judgement of the impact of something than you can of "how much people like it".

I can appreciate that Radiohead's music appeals to a lot of people, and that the fact their music doesn't appeal to me is irrelevant to this argument, but the idea that any one band is empirically better than another is just flat out dumb. Even if I loved one band more than life itself I would never argue that they were quantifiably better than another.

Personally I f***ing hate Radiohead, can't understand how the same people who were moaning about emo music back in 2007 are the same people who worship Thom Yorke, despite his band being the most depressing on the planet.

So much fail here.

1) Whining about a thread you didnt read.

2) If your hatred for Radiohead is "irrelevant" then why bring it up at all?

3) What does "I appreciate that Radiohead's music appeals to a lot of people" even mean? If anything you are acknowledging it, but appreciating it? That requires some understanding, which you havent yet been able to display.

You'll soon find out that there are people here who know more about music than you could ever dream of approaching. Your post reeks of someone who wants to throw a little tantrum about Radiohead, but doesnt actually have anything useful to say about the subject.

I love Radiohead and own all their albums, which are all awesome in their own right (except maybe Pablo Honey), but best band of our time? Kurt Cobain says no.

The average poster on 2p2 was probably 6-10 years old when Kurt died. A good number of people reading this now feel really old, but another good number were still in kindergarten when Kurt died.

Less debating over an old topic and more about the new album, imo.

Does anyone think we'll get an old b-side track released on this album like Nude was on In Rainbows? I heard rumors of True Love Waits which would be really interesting to see if they revisited the song with a new take on the live version.

Oh, and here's to hoping there's more than 10 songs. I know RH won't put any filler tracks on so the more the better.

In many ways, Radiohead has ruined music for me. Almost every new great band/album/song that I hear will inevitably be compared to them and fall short. Could just be in my head though.

Can't wait for the new album.

i voted yes, radiohead has consistently released great music for a long time and they haven't fizzled out. radiohead is the phil ivey of music.

also, like others have said, if you replaced radiohead in this thread with any other band, we would definitely not be on page 7 and the poll results would be nowhere near 36% saying yes.
