radiohead is for emo nerds.... ie. the best sexual experience you will ever have listening to radiohead is furiously masterbating to a fantasy about the prom that you never went to.

They clearly have PF as a bit of an influence and whatever influence they've had on music in general is something to be compared. That isn't the same as saying what you said. 10+ other people in the thread are comparing them without saying they sound THAT similar.

My own personal take is that PF was great back in the day whereas RH is awful so clearly I don't think they sound similar. Other people who think both bands are great don't think one could ever possibly confuse the two bands either.

PF fans who are out of touch and have never heard much RH simply do NOT hear part of a RH song and think, "wait...this might be a PF song I've never heard before." If they do then maybe it's a rare exception on whatever RH song sounds the very most like PF (before Thom Yorke comes mumbling along).

I like the way you lol at my choice for the greatest band of our time when you believe RH and PF are similar. Someone displaying your large lack of judgement cannot laugh at anyone elses opinion on anything music related. Oh and a hell of a lot of people, including on this ****ing thread agree with me. Who agrees with you? Deaf people maybe.
hate to break it to you but .... dude. you are saying TOOL hahahaha. i mean, if youre serious, then you should legitimately be jealous of helen kellers hearing ability.

Why do we let these people out of BBV4L? Amazing how those who spend hours a day in BBV4L or across the other sections posting would come up and support this "gem" though. Not ironic at all.

If you want to call Tool the best "hard rock" band of our time and Radiohead the best alternative band or w/e that seems like a pretty solid compromise for this thread.

Here's me not acknowledging Zug.

the idiocy of your views forced me to; if you need to blame anyone for your little mental breakdown, look in the mirror.

wat

if you are suggesting you were addressing that to anyone else thats ridiculous as im the only person that 'supported' the post.

if you are suggesting that the fact that i post in any other forum than oot is equivalent to being a bbv4l poster then that is simply ******ed.

Tool isn't really my style of music but they are undeniably very talented and in the conversation. LOL at whoever says Pink Floyd and Radiohead sound exactly the same, I'm sorry your ears don't work. Also I didn't know bands were defined by the quality of sexual experience you could have with their music, I guess Barry White is the greatest of all time.

I had no real opinion of radiohead and then listened to almost every song posted ITT and i really don't get it. I did not hear one song with anything close to a distinguishable melody or notable hook. It doesn't matter anyway because the answer to OP is Tool AINEC.

lol Colorless and boring? There music is incredibly dynamic and powerful. Even remotely comparing Korn to them is pretty much an insult and it makes me think you can't legitimately tell the clear difference between the two.

Well thought out, rational post showing a very keen ear for what constitutes good music.

Duly ignored. Congrats.

Yes I know they do the quietquietquietLOUDLOUDLOUD thing, which I guess passes for "dynamic and powerful." It's still monochrome sounding to me--a ton of variations on an E power chord with the drummer overplaying the double kick all over the place.

Tool is just proggy nu-metal for smart people, imo. No real emotional range, just a lot of angsty mysterious darkness. Really, I feel like Slint did what Tool would like to be doing in a more original and smart way than Tool ten years before them.

The fact that Radiohead has received 36% of the vote from OOT means that they must be the "best band" of our time since I am almost certain no other band would receive anywhere close to 35% consensus.

I really don't know what the point of debating this with you since its apparent you are super biased, but a lot of these songs aren't just quietquietquietquietLoudLoudLoud. Some are just frenetic power rock, others have multiple levels to them, etc.
