i quit in '12....after 35+ years

second world series run was killing me and was up to a pack and a half a day.

switched to vaping and never looked back. found one that doesn't look like scuba gear and basically feels just like a Marlboro without hacking up a lung each morning

Get out of your head. I was so afraid that quitting would be so unpleasant that I kept smoking. But when I actually quit, madone, it was so easy. You got this.

+1 to vaping. Went from a pack/day to nothing maybe 7 years ago now. Just need something to help me quit vaping that works as well.

I smoked for over thirty years. I then quit for 8. Then I started again last year. wtf. I got drunk and had one and slid back in to one of the most addictive habits again. I have a bet now for $5,000 with a friend that I must quit before September the first. I will do it!

And, to me, the secret to quitting is using any aid be it gum or patches or whatever until you no longer feel the need to light up.
How will you and the bettor decide when there is a winner?

I smoked about a pack a day for approximately 40 years. When I made a serious attempt to quit I was able to get it down to seven cigarettes per day, but could never seem to actually quit altogether.

My doctor put me on bupropion, and within a few weeks I was able to quit for good. (Sep. 2 will be five years.) Bupropion was a miracle drug, as far as I’m concerned.
I'm trying to quit and got on wellbutrin, but it didn't/hasn't worked, at least for smoking; I feel like it's helping out quite a bit in other areas, concentration mostly.

I will throw in that it's really hard to do with a partner who smokes and isn't trying to quit. To some degree it's an excuse, but it's still much harder when they are around all the time, and were part of your routine (the cig after work where we talk about our days, the coffee and cig in the morning....). But I'm still dedicated to quitting, especially when it dawned on me there's really only one cigarette I actually enjoy (the first thing in the morning on the deck with coffee cig).

OP, the book is Easy Way to Quit Smoking by Alan Carr. The book is simple. Basically telling you in 50 different ways that you really aren’t giving anything up when you quit.
lol when I read your first post I thought of asking you if you were Alan Carr.

Read the book twice, unfortunately it didn't work for me.

Cautiously optimistic that the patch is going to get this done. I started on it a week ago and had immediate success in terms of cravings, but fell off the wagon eventually smoking with my partner. But now she's on the patch, too, so fingers crossed.

A poker guy I know intercepted a vape his teen son had shipped to house and asked if anyone wanted it. I took it and haven't smoked since. It was a SMOK Novo3 and I use salt-based juice with 25ml nicotine. Lungs and wallet are both thankful.
