However, I will say that when I get bad McDonalds, it is worse then any other fast food place...like occasionally I'll get a DCB that is so salty I swear they soaked the beef in soy sauce or something, pretty brutal

OK, so I had my maiden CFA voyage today.

Verdict:

Kept it simple, went with an 8-piece nugget along with a large order of waffle fries. Walked in and got it to go because I wanted time to ponder and I feel that in the drive thru line they frown on pondering, especially with the dual-lane drive thru at this location.

Didn't know what to do for sauces so she helpfully suggested I get one of each of them. Nice. My favorite was the chik-fil-a one, it's kind of a creamy honey mustard/1000 island mix that I liked. There was also a special BBQ one that came in a packet whereas all the others came in those little cups. That was very good too. The fries were good and fresh and the chicken was tender and a good value imo at $2.89 for an 8-piece order.

Luckily my fat ass wasn't feeling up for a shake so I'll have an excuse to go back and try one out.

I would recommend chik-fil-a to anyone looking to have a positive fast food chicken and potato experience.

They have peach milkshakes at cfa's right now, at least in florida. I highly reccomend that one if they're available as it was quite delicious, the peach bits in the shake are an excellent touch.

Yep, here too. When I mentioned that I'd be back sometime for a shake, the unusually friendly, unusually white counter lady mentioned the peach special.

cooked in shortening and were wonderful and I'm sure very bad for you.

Now they're mediocre at best.

Hit Five Guys today for the first time in several years.

That is a regular order of fries. There's also a large.

Pretty expensive for fast food (just a bacon cheeseburger and fries came to like $9.20) but so damn good.

This is gonna sound strange, but their rice and beans have no flavor at all, they just seem very bland to me. Kinda weird for a "mexican" fast food place, but they have other sides to choose from and the great chicken make up for it imo.

Moving back to Kansas City in a month... Going to miss Jack 'n the Box, but I'm really looking forward to having 5 Guys more than just a couple times a year.

Not fast food, but Blanc makes the best burgers I've ever had. You should definitely check it out when you get back into town.

I haven't noticed that myself- The CFA sandwich is one of the only ones that I can eat dry, myself (without those damned pickles, thank you).

I'm a big fan of the Wendy's deep-fried chicken sandwich.

And, btw, let's make ElD's head asplode- I have TWO "Chickalay" restaurants (what my kids used to call them) within 3 miles.

Amen. The fries were the only things to go for and they ****ed them all up, going "healthy".

i went to 5 guys about a month ago. i got the same order as you (i did cajun fries though). the key is to go with at least one other person, maybe 2 because the amount of fries i got would have easily satisfied 3 people.

i can't imagine what a large fries portion looks like.

If people are considering Five Guys "fast food", then I could call Jimmy John's, Subway, Qdoba, etc. "fast food." Needs to have a drive-thru to even be considered fast food. There is actually a Jimmy John's that has a drive-thru near my house (old Wendy's converted to JJ's.)

I can't even make a top 3 fast food. The only place I will go that I consider "fast food" for food is Wendy's. And Jimmy John's is faster than most "fast food" places.
