Do you get offended by stand up comedy?

No doubt its edgy, but not all jokes are clean. My old lady actually finds it hilarious and sometimes will bring it up if a 3rd party inquires to the possibility of our procreation.

Edit 2: One of the things I love about her is she is quite tolerant of the very raunchy and vulgar random bull**** I like to spew. None hateful or violent, just vulgar.

Personally I think it wasn't remotely funny. It wasn't even original. I doubt you'd be making jokes like that if your pregnant sister/friend/cousin had got pushed down some stairs and was looking for emergency accommodation and being told there was nothing available just before Christmas. Making jokes like that totally trivialises a major societal problem. It also normalizes it. I found your joke way more jarring than thinmans. I think the fact that it came from somebody I always thought was a fairly decent poster made it way worse.

Oh god not this again. His joke was perfectly fine, violence against everyone is a basis for a good joke, men AND women (There's some equality for you! (Disclaimer, this may very well be a non original bad joke but its needed in these dark times)).

Next thing you know someone will come out and say holocaust jokes are no good either. The whole thing about jokes is that they are BEST when about societal issues, not worst, cmonnnnnnn we all know this. Im sorry you have to leave us Rexxx, I actually like you.

If you're going to look at it from a purely comedic standpoint it was very boring and unoriginal. So you should be anti the joke purely on that basis. It wasn't remotely clever.

Where have I threatened to leave or come get Big in his RL? It's a totally different situation to previous one. I'm not going to just ignore something I find offensive though on the basis of not going against the majority or whatever. I also have no intention of dragging it out. It's my personal opinion and I understand some will disagree.

yup

I realize im probably on the far end of the bell curve on this issue, but I laugh at all kinds of sick and depraved stuff, and usually that stuff is the most funny. Would be pretty hypocritical just to draw the line at something simply because I have personal experience with it, so then to not be a hypocrite that would mean that pretty much nothing could be joked about and that would be a pretty boring way to get through life imo.

I highly doubt that would be the case but if you insist. Fwiw when my mum was so sick with cancer we would make jokes about it as a coping mechanism so I am not anti comedy in difficult situations.

I think it would be interesting if people who felt the way you do went and did some volunteering at a battered women's shelter, whether you still felt the same way after doing it.

I have very good friends whose son died from SIDS and it had a pretty big effect on me, my favorite joke is still a dead baby joke. I have multiple women in my life who I am as close to as you can be who have been victimized sexually and I have held them while they cried and watched how drastically it affected their lives. I still laugh my ass off at a good rape or molestation joke.

The beauty of life to me is that it is impossible for it to be so bad that it can't get worse, and the absurdity of that simple fact means there is always something to laugh at.
