I have long known about the Rocket Man but this was new to me and it is excellent.

I'm not surprised at all, thanks.

My best so far is several years ago we were driving from Memphis to Vicksburg MS on Hwy 61 through the Mississippi Delta which is flat as a fritter. She kept asking me. "How much farther?" My answer every time was "It's just over the next hill." I thought it so funny that it has become my stock answer to that question whenever she asks.

Back in the days before smart phones, I’d memorized the directions to a friend’s house in the Tampa area. We flew in and rented a car, and about half an hour into the drive, Mrs T asked me “how much farther is it.” I thought for a moment and said “23.2 Miles,” to which she immediately called “bull****.” I said no, really, and she snap offered to put a hundo on it. She paid!

Alobar,

Do you know the difference between hay and straw?

Several years ago I gave my old lady $50 because i was certain that Branch Rickey was not played by Harrison Ford after we saw the 42 trailer.

I think so? Hay is the **** you feed to animals, and straw is the stuff baby jesus was born on. I think they are from different plants but where I grew up everything was alfalfa, so even tho it would still technically be hay, we called is straw when it was out of the bail and not being fed to animals. So it would be "go give the horses half a bail of hay" and "go clean up the straw in the barn" even tho it was the exact same thing. Straw is supposed to be softer I think, because you sure as **** don't want to lay down in bed of hay.

I'm not sure I've felt hay, but I would think straw is less soft being all dried out.

Also, one may take a roll in the hay, but you don't hear as much about that going on in the straw.

I always thought hay and alfalfa were the same. I like this hay joke and the cows outstanding in their field joke and fully intend to use both.

Straw is bedding, hay is food (for horses and vegans)

I need help finding a book I stumbled across like 6 months ago, I can't remember the name and it's driving me nuts.

It was a memior of a bartender who worked at a famous New York restaurant in the early-mid 20th century. I thought it was Gallagher's or Caroline's but I can't seem to find it. I seem to remember it was one of those restaurants with famous people's pictures on the wall.

That jog anyone's memory?
