You're an old cat, and the flu is dangerous for olds. If you were in close contact with 10 sick people and you haven't had a flu shot, would you prefer those 10 people hacking around you to have had a flu shot, or doesn't matter?
10% is basically 0%. And hundreds of millions of dollars wasted.
If 10% of the time it “worked” what happened the other 90%. You have put a strange cocktail in your blood stream. I bet you a small % of that 90% developed something else. And it might not be today. It could lead to something else in 20 years.
And no, I don’t think other vaccines cause autism. But there is definitely a non-zero chance they cause other externalities. We really don’t study the negative side effects and it is probably for the best. They are 99.9% effective and society benefits from everyone being vaccinated.
