Those instructions are amazing.

So you passed on table salt and had a glass of water instead. Probably a good call.

Play,

I still don’t get it. You trust this guy enough to take highly diluted poison as a remedy, yet don’t trust him when he tells you table salt is a remedy for your condition.

The table salt was also going to be diluted to the point that it was just tap water. That's the genius of it; the guy can just keep naming things until he finds one the googler will agree to and it doesn't matter. None of the 'substance' is gonna end up getting ingested anyway.

Pretty much never a problem in typical Western diets, but lack of salt could actually be a health issue, but never sugar.

Probably should have diluted that one.

Quote:
In homeopathy, arsenicum album (Arsen. alb.) is a solution prepared by diluting aqueous arsenic trioxide generally until there is little or no arsenic remaining in the solution.[1] It is used by homeopaths to treat a range of symptoms that include digestive disorders and, as an application of the homeopathic Law of Similars has been suggested by homeopaths as a treatment for arsenic poisoning.[2] Since the arsenic oxide in a homeopathic preparation is normally non-existent, it is considered generally safe, although cases of arsenic poisoning from poorly prepared homeopathic treatments sold in India have been reported.
ALSO, you were googling what he wanted you to take and you balked at table salt but said 'bring on the arsenic trioxide'??

No wonder it didn't work well.

In homeopathy, a solution that is more dilute is described as having a higher "potency", and more dilute substances are considered by homeopaths to be stronger and deeper-acting.

So you decided to give homeopathy a go, then declined the first "cure" because lol table salt and decided to take undiluted poison instead? Solid.

I would drink nuclear waste, without a care in the world, if it were diluted in the five cup method.

"I was too smart for his first cure so I took his second" might be the most effective 2+2 trolling line I've ever read.

Now, remember, the tiny little remedy ball was only in the first cup. You then discard the first 4 cups (spill them out in the sink), and you put the 5th cup in the refrigerator and that's the one you use. You take a teaspoon per day. I'm not making this stuff up at all. This is the world of homeopathy.
Can not be real life. How could any adult listen to this?

This would bother me to hell as well OP, primarily because I can see my parents falling for this.

However I take the side of the lot of 2p2. If she isn't passing up on conventional care in lieu of psuedoscience and can afford it, then there's not much of a case to be made. The only argument I could come up with is that paying pseudoscientists encourages their existence and incentivizes more people to get into it but that might be a bit abstract for your parents.

Obviously the correct play here is to find the homeo’s mum (hire dirk gently if you have to) and sell her magnetic bracelets, magic ph water and aura therapy. Since you are the rational one you should be able to pull this scam off better than the original homeo and either keep the monies as your inheritance or give it back to your mom to pay for her homeo.

“Conventional” medicine just has slightly better outcomes. Supposedly.

Like the flu vaccine. I think a couple of years ago, it was determined it only helped 18% of patients. That isn’t a success. Probably can inject sugar water and the have same outcome.

I am very skeptical of big pharma. The studies/data to get something approved are lol. To get patients taking the drug, all that matters is money. Lobbying and marketing.

In 2005 it was only 10% effective, derp. In 2010 it was 60% effective. Last year it was 39%.

You're an old cat, and the flu is dangerous for olds. If you were in close contact with 10 sick people and you haven't had a flu shot, would you prefer those 10 people hacking around you to have had a flu shot, or doesn't matter?

10% is basically 0%. And hundreds of millions of dollars wasted.

If 10% of the time it “worked” what happened the other 90%. You have put a strange cocktail in your blood stream. I bet you a small % of that 90% developed something else. And it might not be today. It could lead to something else in 20 years.

And no, I don’t think other vaccines cause autism. But there is definitely a non-zero chance they cause other externalities. We really don’t study the negative side effects and it is probably for the best. They are 99.9% effective and society benefits from everyone being vaccinated.
