Wow! Doyle Brunson follows her on Twitter. Maybe Big Poppa has some inside info.

The snippet about her blog was supposed to make people forever lose interest in her.

That swipe would make SWAZ proud.

I am good, switched careers/roles again. My startup where I was working as a tech project manager went suddenly bankrupt in late 2019 and I had to work without pay for 3-4 months, and they kind of held our backpay hostage on us. It was a very ****ed up situation, but I got to go to chicago in the dead of winter so that was kind of a cool experience.

So then I was unemployed for like 5 weeks right as covid was starting and got a job at a large, pretty successful company as a devops engineer. I started the day the lockdowns began, never set foot in the office. I get to hack stuff all day and work with other legit hackers. It's fun and I'm learning a lot, even though my boss can be a little bit of a dickhole at times and the job can get tedious. I'm also administrating a website (a forum) on the side. I'm also mentoring a kid who also lost his father at a young age to cancer and I'm teaching him how to program. I have a big crush on his 23 year old sister. So all in all quite busy.

I spent about 4 months holed up in my house during the peak of covid, so that wasn't too fun, but during that time I lost nearly 40 lbs and got my head in a really great place despite all the craziness in the world right now. I feel happier and more successful than I've ever been, and since I got my vaccine 2 weeks ago, I am looking forward to life returning normal again. Going to go to vegas as soon as I'm 2 weeks cleared of my second pfizer dose.

Probably this:

my brother is an architect, everyone has been remote but he occasionally has to fly to a job site to inspect progress

Tough line to draw.

I was very excited for today. Best day of the year. Then the Nationals game got postponed because COVID. Now I am sad.

I assume I am in the minority here but I actually despise working remote. Maybe it’s because of covid and there’s such an insane amount of time spent at home already, but honestly adjusting to it has been very difficult for me. I feel like I’m living in a work dungeon. I also feel much less productive and since I’ve never set foot in the office feel less “connected” to the company, if that makes sense.

I just despise working, period. Wish I could be remote, but there's a lot of hands-on stuff to handle here.

I love being at home. Astrology is pretty bullshit, but I definitely relate to a lot of Cancer traits. I love to craft a perfect shell and inhabit it.

I hated WFH at first, but now I far prefer it. But I also have switched from being on a team where I really liked seeing and working with everyone to being on a team where everyone mostly just works in their own individual silo, so there's just not that much to enjoy about being in the office.

I've been working from home for the las 12 or 13 years. Last time I was physically in the office was 2011. If they ever ask me to come in, I'll retire on the spot.

Definitely. I find it really hard to focus at home. I guess there is something about being in an office setting that is more conducive to actually getting work done.

I don't remember ever actually interacting with you as I have mostly lurked for the last decade, but I always enjoy your posts and found your life-update that you posted on this page to be really uplifting. Thanks!

you know there are apps that can force you away from distractions like facebook, stonks, pornhub, etc

Jmakin is a really cool/good person.

To be sure, there is an adjustment to be made. I think a lot of people figured out over the last year that it is not all it is cracked up to be. I don't have any idea how someone could do it with family in the house. Especially kids. I live alone so distractions are minimal.

I've definitely assumed that the pandemic has been a peak time to be childless.

"I hate my children" is the new "I hate my wife."

this

I imagine lots of people appreciate their children's babysit...er, teacher more. Altho the downside to that is teachers were already among the biggest self backslappers in existence, so it will only make many of them even more eye rolling to deal with.

I've never worked in an office, so have no idea what it's like, but I can't imagine ever wanting to do it.

my gf is terrible at working from home tho, her 8 hour day takes her 12 because she can't stay away from distractions.

I said THAT IS SOUNDING DEEP.
