For a long time, poker content was banned from OOT. However, times have changed and now all poker content will go here.

If your thread has been merged here, consider yourself lucky that a mod didn't just ban you.

ITT we discuss things like Josie winning 300 bbs in a 20 hand PLO session and proving herself as a longterm winner.

But is non-poker content banned from this thread?

I played recently for the first time in nearly a year, and shipped a 27-person tournament. I got to heads-up at something close to a 2:1 chip disadvantage, dude offered a 50/50 chop, and I politely declined before dismantling him.

Did Daniel Negreanu ever come out of the closet?

I recently bought Andrew Brokos’s “Play Optimal Poker” and highly recommend it. After reading it twice, I hit the stone bubble in two tournaments, was one off the stone bubble in a third, and punted a middle stack to the giant-stack calling station on a theoretically sound but exploitively idiotic bluff and finished tenth at the final table where there were four short stacks.

Grrr I didn't prove myself a long term winner, but I already know I love this thread.

Thanks for the recommendation Howard, I may check it out.

I'm just finishing up Advanced PLO, Small Ball and Short Hand by Jeff Hwang which I do think has helped my game. :P

Flop a set is best way by quite a large margin.

Should I fold AA pre-flop on the first hand of the main event when facing an all-in?

Josie,

How important is position before you open it?

I'll try to think of a poker question later.

No.

I remember reading a TwoPlusTwo magazine article from years ago how you shouldn't fold QQ versus AK suited on the first hand of the main event.

Thoughts?

Definitely fold and wait for a bigger edge.

The article argued that you're not guaranteed to find a bigger edge plus as a winning and experienced MTT player you'd use the 2x stack to your benefit in accumulating more chips than if you folded the first hand.

Is Mike Matusow still alive or has he OD'd yet?

I always hated Matusow until this moment, at which point I realized that there were scumbags about five levels worse than him.

Floor made a completely gutless decision.

To this day, on a friggin weekly basis, I hear people say exactly like Shieky "I didn't even say anything!..." after slamming the table when the flop comes out like that. They are truly indignant that they even did anything wrong when called out.

Somehow I've never seen that. Unsure what event that is, doesn't look like ME chips. Agree that it's bull**** Mike was given equal penalty. Any at all unless there was a stric no F bomb policy.
