So a pot pie with top pastry only, or a fruit tart in a spring form pan, or shepherd's pie with no pastry aren't pies?

Have you ever had a cheesecake baked in a pie dish with side pastry?

Bull**** deconstructed pot pie can go **** itself.

Fruit tart in a spring form pan? Does it have crust around the side?

Shepherds pie is a casserole, not a pie.

Cheesecake pie is a pie.

This seems arbitrary to me. There are plenty of examples online of pies with bottom crusts only.

Thanks! I was messing around with frangipane after watching a lot of great British bake off. As expected, the tartness of the rhubarb paired nicely with the frangipane. I still want to do some work at getting better at removing the tarts from pans though.

I love that Great British Bake Off although Mr Rexx thinks I'm torturing him because I rarely bake sweet things. I might be inspired by this thread to bake a pie.

The pie eating celebration shall be curious. Unlike nuggets and ice cream sandwiches, numbers are hard to pull! I think I'm gonna eat a whole pie. There's a place nearby called Pieology that makes interesting stuff. Probably needed rather than regular grocery store bakery pie for such an affair.
