parallax,

yeah it's not groundbreaking, but it's solid imo

amp,

my first impression is I like Passion better, but this is the kind of music I need to listen to 10-15x to let it sink in, so I might end up liking this more.

I'll try and track it down - it was a scan from a European magazine. They talked about nazism as an example of the nihilism and "evilness" they espoused. It was more striking for how juvenile it sounded then its bad taste.

I think it was in a similar vein to Micheal Moynihan (publisher of Black Metal history book "Lords of Chaos") who said "I like what Hitler did but I don't think he went far enough"

Personally - I've struggled a bit with enjoying artists with despicable views or histories of despicable actions. I still listen to Burzum but I don't support him financially.

That seems like an odd statement to make when you bring up wanting to discuss NSBM in the next sentence...

Nice recommendation.

Hate the term "instrumental technical death metal" though. The thing that is most distinctive about death metal is the cookie monster vocals. Take that away, and how is this "death" metal?

Seriously? Paradise Lost and Nickelback in the same sentence, without the triology of doom bands PL, Anathema and My Dying Bride half of the Swedish/Finnish current scene prob wouldnt exist their influence is huge.

One of the first songs that I ever rember hearing in the extreme side that had the male/female vocals going on and some of the ochestral stuff as well. They went on a bit of a journey through some electronica Depeche Mode type stuff but are back playing heavier earlier material now. Draconian Times one of the most classic brit thrash/doom albums.

I'm going to see Lamb of God in Hollywood on Halloween, it should be awesome. A band called Sylosis is one of the opening acts, they seem very promising from the little I've heard of them. The guitar player is SICK. Any opinions here on them?

I wish i could see them on halloween, but i have to work...Ive been a huge fan of sylosis for year or two. I think their first album is the best since i prefer the original singers voice over the new guy...

Anyone hear the new cradle of filth album?

I used to listen to them a bunch back when nymphetamine came out, but they release albums so fast, and seems overkill imo.

I'm on track 3 and a bit bored already last decent album from them for me was Nympetamine as well but I more of a fan of them from back in the days of Vempire and Midian etc so the newer style hasnt really appealed.

Hmm, just heard of a new band (they aren't new but this is my first time hearing them).

I really like the intro/riffs and 3:47ish+ is amazing.

I helped my friend make a video review of the album:

I tried to post one earlier but screwed it up. We've done a couple video reviews of heavy albums and its been a lot of fun.

I think that review would be a lot better if she was speaking in her own words and not reading off cue cards.
