Mmmm I’m impressed with how thinly you sliced the cheddar.

Old lady has good taste in cheese & men.

I can’t imagine why they’d ask unless they have a quota to fill but I’m guessing.
They ask because I don't think the penalties for getting caught with this type of stuff are very severe, at least in California. And that's even if they get caught - I believe there is some complaint process, and the end result isn't always guaranteed to be monetary damages. Laws are very employer friendly.

It's probably part of a voluntary disclosure form. Not only legal, but often required.

I won a single dollar from El D on a prop bet last night.

In which case she should definitely disclose as the employer can only ask if they are using the information to benefit individuals with disabilities

She is on federal disability? That seems crazy. If she is you can still earn a certain amount a month and retain your disability benefits. I think it is around 1k a month.

I know "go to an accountant" is a likely answer here, but what's the best cheap layman's tax software?

I've used TurboTax for years. I've never had a problem. Of course, I know what I'm doing.

Good enough for me. I don't know what I'm doing, but whatever, worst that happens is I get prosecuted, bust out of jail and live an exciting life as an outlaw.

I've been using freetaxusa.com for 6 years and haven't had any problems.
Of course I dont know wtf I'm doing.

I like TurboTax too.

I'm also a fan of Turbo Tax. Very thorough and simple to use.

$39.99 to file my son's taxes.

Been using TurboTax for at least 10 years. Obviously satisfied with it.

Why are we doing our kids taxes? Damn. Raising a helpless generation!

Part of the reason I'm getting software is to do my kids' taxes (16 and 19yo). It should be like 20 minutes to do them and they'll get a little refund.
03-13-2019 , 02:03 PM
Unless they have something more complex than normal, I think TurboTax online should be free for them. Free. Free free free. Free free.

Soooo I’m going to get laid off tomorrow after 17 years w the same company. It’s generally more positive than negative given what a **** show this place is, and we’re fine financially, but now that it’s closer to the date it really feels bad. **** these ****ers.

Any tips from anyone who has been through something like this?

Not sure if your business is organized as an LLC, but (acknowledging we may have not correctly toggled an option or something) when you e-file, if you have an LLC, Turbo Tax does not automatically submit the 568 to the State, so you have to still print that out and mail it in.

Jose,

Did you get rid of Lobster Boy or are you just trying to pad his absences with a new hire?

I know he needs to learn how to do these things himself. You're so right.

Well, free, free, free, free, unless you're a college student and you've paid interest on your student loan. In that case, it's 39.99, 39.99, 39.99, 39.99.
