The stated purpose at 2+2 is vigorous debate and a little bit of fun. Unfortunately, both of these now seem to be lost in this forum with the insults and personal attacks being out of hand.

Ms. OOT can be a great subject as long as each of us respects the other person even if they present views that we don’t agree with. However, that ceased happening on this forum long ago.

So the bottom line is this. Unless we see significant improvement in how we treat each other here, 2+2 Management will look at making serious changes to this forum, and one of our options will be to shut it down completely.

All polite comments welcome.

Late to this thread, but I will confess to being a conservative who posts occasionally when I find a topic interesting and lurks otherwise.

While I do feel that there is some group bullying here and the forum is very liberal-centric, I think it would be a shame to close it down. There are many incredibly smart and educated people here from whom I learn a lot about my blind spots on a lot of issues. Doesn't mean that I will end up agreeing, but I don't think there is a better resource for me to hear/learn/comprehend the other side of many issues.

I do think it could be more civil and there are many times I do think people get shouted down (my own experience back in the Ferguson thread) especially around any issue having to deal with race. But, that aside, I think overall, the forum does way more good than harm if/when it stays on track.

Anyway, it seems like perhaps some changes are already occurring and hopefully it will stick and be enough for Mason and others to allow this forum to exist.

I must most emphatically disagree with your stated position. While i have great respect for you as a fellow human being and wish nothing but good things upon your person, I believe there are one or two inadvertent falsehoods or exaggerations in your preceding statement which render significant portions of it incorrect (from my admittedly limited perspective). I would like to discuss these discrepancies with you further in the spirit of mutually beneficial inquiry if you are of a mind?

Why did you make this thread in OOT? It needs to be either locked or moved to ATF (or, more preferably, French BBV).

It's a parody thread. Mason made a post in Politards that said the politards needed to shape up and stop being asshats or he may close the Politards forum if they don't. That's why the politards have been all in a tizzy for the last week or so. There's a big thread over in ATF about it.

The OP here has started this thread with a slightly modified version of Mason's post.
