Anything peeling up or falling off will stay down w/ silicone. I used it recently also to fix my microwave (piece on front top had broken off and would be $100 to replace). I siliconed the whole piece back into place. It's better than something like superglue because you could pull it off again if you needed to without leaving residue.
Another example was that my dog chewed up some laminate flooring that had partially come up. I siliconed the parts that were still attached back down and siliconed a wooden threshold in place over the whole area he damaged. Sure beats trying to replace part of the floor.
