Wikipedia (lol?) says washing immediately with soap/detergent and water should be enough to prevent poison ivy/oak reactions. It has to be in the first few minutes though.

Within about 30 minutes from what I've heard. I have extreme susceptibility to poison ivy - and the times I didn't wash off have been much much worse.

This will make me hate you. And your bag may get moved for you when the people who are in that row arrive.

Cleaning up melted wax on a carpet with an iron and a paper towel is pretty cool, but jeez that's obscure. I've never seen wax spilled on a carpet. And I'm freakin' old.

i've never seen anyone's bag get moved unless it won't fit. also, why? there's not enough overhead bin room in the plane for everyone's carryon => i'm going to take the first spot i see so i don't have to check my bag

i know that, dummy... my girlfriend is.

jk and also i exaggerated the tip into a joke. obviously getting a girlfriend just to use her purse is not cool (also not worth it), it was more of a tip for guys who have girlfriends who have purses that they can use this to their advantage, because most guys can't carry around a lot of useful stuff all the time. other useful things that can be found in purses: chapstick, mints, ipod, headphones, condoms, the list goes on.

getting on a plane and having no overhead space is pretty frustrating, if you're like in the last 2 zones i would take any real estate, besides, going backwards does suck

hate is a bit of an over reaction, no?

Travel more. It happens. I know people who will remove bags that have been put up by people in the back and then the flight attendants deal with the bags. These people also travel a lot more than you so the flight attendant is going to care about them more than you.

If the overhead space has gotten to the point where you can take any spot, the FAs will tell you to do so (like if you are in the last two zones). But otherwise scotchnrocks is right - one person screwing up the overhead space area causes a ripple effect and then everyone is having to go backwards anyway to fit their carryon in a bin so now YOU are going to have to wait for those people to go backwards in front of you before you get your bag.

Also, if you have a carry on bag and it doesn't fit into the overhead space going straight back (and therefore you take two carryons' worth of horizontal space) and the plane isn't an RJ, I judge and hate you. Also if you fling your duffle or something small that could fit under the seat in front of you and take up the overhead space instead of putting it in front of you, I hate you. If you try to take on more than 2 carryons, I hate you. If you try to sneak your carryon into first class overhead space when you're seated in coach, I hate you.

Strangely enough, if you recline your seat in front of me, I really don't care.

Thats going a bit far. I understand mints, chapstick and such, but a REAL man carries his own wallet and keys.

when street parking, park in the homeward direction

get a girlfriend who carries a purse, she will always have useful things like gum, hand sanitizer, tissues, etc. (alt. if you are a girl, carry a purse with useful things like gum, hand sanitizer, tissues, etc.)

when people are talking to you throw in some "mmhmm"s and "yeah"s in their little pauses so they know you're listening and paying attention (or at least they think you are)
Life tricks:

Don't be the douche on the plane who ****s up the overhead bagging system for everyone else bc they are looking out for #1.

Choose your gf based on how much you like her, not her ability to carry gum.

edit: nothing personal xkf

but it's not me screwed. doesn't "avoid getting screwed" count as a life tip? think of it like a game - i could have either a zero percent chance of getting screwed or some nonzero percent chance of getting screwed.

also fwiw, i don't think it's necessary on planes where they board according to where you're sitting, but i do do this on flights where they board based on check-in time or something that randomizes the order in which the people in front of you board.

i clarified a few posts later. for the record whether or not a girl carries a purse has nothing to do with whether or not i want to date her. what i meant was that a purse is very helpful and if there weren't large social consequences to a man carrying a purse i absolutely would. i carry my own stuff (wallet phone keys) and she doesn't carry anything specifically for me but she will carry stuff for the two of us like a water bottle or something because she likes me (because i have a cool car)

But you are kind of screwing yourself bc all you are doing is forcing the people ahead of you, who now can't fit their bags above their seats, to put their bags further back behind them. Then when it comes time to deplane, they have to move backwards through the line to get their bags, thereby slowing EVERYONE down.

To be fair, I make my gf put my sunglasses, keys, sweatshirt and a number of other things in her bag on a regular basis.

This x10000. I lived with so many people and this always works. Life is so much easier when you wash your dishes every day. You never get stuck with huge pile ups and less fighting over who does them.

My life trick is for those who like posting images, use firefox and want to be able to host images in 2 clicks...

Download rehost image (see below). It's so incredibly easy to host images and rehost images from other websites, all you do is right click and click rehost and it saves the link to your clipboard. If you want to host an image off of your computer you can just drag it onto firefox and then right click - rehost. You can use like 3 different image hosting sites.
One of my favourite extensions for sure.

Don't use chrome so I can't comment on it's functionality, but it looks kind of similar.

Sometimes yes I will have to wait for whoever got screwed to backtrack and retrace his or her bags, but only if he or she is sitting in front of me. Assuming I don't sit in the very back of the plane every flight, this will work to my advantage sometimes. Even if I do have to wait a little longer to deboard, I'd rather do it in my seat than have to push past a bunch of irate passengers standing in the aisle to get my bag.

Also you and everyone above who also quoted me and said they hate me is making the assumption that if it weren't for me everything would go smoothly (i.e. everyone gets overhead bin space right above their seat), which is definitely not the case. Someone is going to get screwed no matter what, I'm just staking my claim quickly so that it's not me.

Also fwiw (not much) I almost never use any overhead bin space, most of the time I carry on only a backpack which goes under the seat in front of me. Chicks with purses on the other hand always use overhead bin space so life tip: don't date one of them.

Is it such a huge deal to just remain seated/stand over your seat while people unload their ****? I don't travel often but rushing to get off the plane just for the sake of having a minute amount of additional free time doesn't seem worth the stress.

Well if you're flying internationally being stuck at the back of a planeload of people in a queue at immigration can suck balls. Which is one reason to want to get off asap.

I religiously board planes as close to last as I can manage. I've never ever had trouble finding space for my luggage. Sometimes you have to tetris things around a bit but there's room. I think I'm on about 120 lifetime flights. Confused as to how this is such a big issue.
