I thought it was funny, maybe you had to be there.
Lol I've gotten some weird looks/responses when I've told people to do that. The ones that take me seriously usually thank me later.

In my city the higher-risk areas have carts that lock the wheels if you try to take them off the property. The other areas have teenagers who work in the store that have to go around and pick up the carts every so often. LOL at taking my cart back to the front of the store for a quarter.

so your theory is if someone wants to steel a grocery cart, having to leave a 25 cent deposit is going to stop them?

Go paperless if possible. Pay all your bills from your phone while stuck in traffic/waiting in line.

I'm guessing it saves more carts than it would without it. Duh.

Duh? The only point of the quarter is to get people to return the cart. The prospect of losing a quarter is not stopping anyone from steeling a cart, especially since once they get it to wherever the **** they need it they can smash the coupling device and get the quarter out.

Maybe less carts are stolen as a secondary result since they are less likely to be left at the edges of the lots, but your thought process is just stupid.

Don't know if this has been mentioned, but...

Supposedly if you get permanent marker on your monitor, you can write over it with a dry erase marker, erase with the dry erase, um, eraser, and then finish with glass cleaner.

I've heard that it works, but fortunately haven't had to try it.

Also, ice gets blood out, if it hasn't been mentioned a dozen times already. This one I know first hand.

Apparently you overestimate the intelligence of the people these are meant for, and apparently your own intelligence.

The quarter doesnt mean dick to anyone wanting to steal a cart, but you won't see any stray carts within two miles of the grocery store. I grew up in Oregon and you never saw cans lying around anywhere, because me and my friends would forage for them to get video game money. I would have stalked the grocery parking lots too if carts were worth a quarter.

Confirmed that dry erase removes permanent underneath. Not sure how you'd get permanent marker on your display though... it's more commonly used as a trick for when some idiot uses a sharpie on a dry erase board

lol i keep a baby gate on my office door currently to keep my 10mo twins out (they like to turn off my ****). I'm upgrading that to probably keypad or bio deadbolt lock when they get old enough to defeat baby gates (hopefully RFID implant by that point).

They will definitely understand that this is "daddy's office" and they can GTFO unless invited.

You have twins??

Good luck with ALLLLLLL that. In another month, they'll be boosting each other over the baby gate while communicating through telepathy.

lol I already know I'm ****ed. First and last two kids for us. Luckily it was a boy & girl so both wife and I are happy and the twins will hopefully keep eachother in check during the teenage years (like Brandon & Brenda) instead of causing all sorts of trouble.

If you don't have smartphone-

If you need info on something, txt {name}{zip code} to GOOGLE (466453)

Eg- Hooters 73115 brings up addresses and phone numbers of all hooters restaurants within the Oklahoma City area. Very useful when ur traveling, much better than 411

If you do have a smartphone, then f*ck off

I could have sworn GOOG SMS was going away. Also, it used to just be shortcode 46645, which probably still works

This.

I don't think that the idea of charging a loonie/quarter is so that carts don't get stolen... if people are poor and need to cart their food back to their homes, a quarter is cheaper than a cab ride. However, it gives incentive for people to put them back where they belong, in order to get their $$ back. Obviously a quarter isn't a big deal, but the loonie may be for some people.

I am actually surprised that using quarters/loonies for carts is that rare!!! I actually don't know of any place in my city that doesn't have this system, aside from some of the smaller grocery stores or Walmart, which probably doesn't have them since they are a chain.

Another genius google app that I learned about yesterday: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Google_Goggles

Currently only available for Android phones, but soon will be available for every smart phone.

I tried using Google Goggles once, but it wasn't able to access the server, so it just kept "thinking". 3G reception was fine at the time.
