I think it's mostly that there just isn't enough hate around here anymore. But I commend you volunteering to man up and was hoping someone else who is known would take you up on it. I am not interested as I like posting here and am not going to pull a diebitter and return several dozen times because it's unenforceable on mods.

i didn't really expect to get any takers, but maybe it's a good thing. survivor isn't about 'hey anyone wanna tussle?'. it needs two guys who absolutely hate each other and can't stand to be on the same forum for another second.

but it appears we don't have any of that, at least not from anyone willing to participate. So if we want to see any action, we'll have to settle for a couple dudes who just think eachother make ****ty posts.

If you mean as hilarious examples of how badly he can fly off the handle, I totally agree.

It just seems that back in the day there were a lot more rivalries and people hating each other. Part of that may have been that the forums hadn't split a whole bunch of times so posters concentrated here as the primary OT forum led to cabin fever or something, but there is no way that things were as genteel two years ago as they are now. Seriously, back then two "veteran" posters were regularly challenging each other and being declined because the Survivor was on hiatus, now we're relying on killa and deus ex machina in order to make something remotely interesting happen.

I would gladly participate in Survivor.

I would guess that kyleb would actually have a better chance in this forum than SE if for no other reason than he and his roving gang of THAY3R, Thremp, TheRover, and whoever else I'm forgetting steamrolling baseball threads with their popped collars and condescending air is like the internet equivalent of West Side Story, and there has to be some measurable collateral damage beyond just Not Lolo.

I strongly disagree. Nearly all the baseball people will vote for me unless I'm running against some Boston fanboy ******, in which case I get all the NYY vote anyway.

There's no way I could beat a solid poster in OOT. I haven't made a thread in this forum in months and I'm pretty sure the last one I made was to discuss books, which are not popular, apparently.

EDIT: Furthermore, I've dropped the condescending attitude to help promote my site (and because some of the mods are trigger-happy), much to the chagrin of friends like Thayer and Rover. In doing so, Not Lolo appeared. So, your theory is probably wrong - idiots are going to populate the forum no matter what, and possibly even more frequently because I am not a jerk to them.

I read both during football season, probably a lot of others that do too.

Well to be honest Clark and I have been jonesing for an SE Survivor for awhile now so if you can think of someone who is willing to tango we can solve this definitively and it won't be this gay non or forced Survivor crap that's happening here...

I'll keep my eye out and I'll challenge obviously weaker posters to Survivor while ignoring the stronger ones. Oh wait, that's what's happening here.

Anyway, I think most people would imagine that I am doing the forum a big disservice if I left, since I actually do provide significant value to the threads about baseball. That you're a statistical luddite and don't understand what I'm talking about doesn't mean what I have to say is polarizing; most of the forum is 20-something educated people who intellectually understand many academic subjects and are interested in knowing how to apply critical thinking to a mathematic game like baseball.

The only person I want to challenge is Not Lolo, and unfortunately he's gone. And ALLTheCookies, but for obvious reasons, he won't accept. Everyone else is fine enough, even sublime, that Boston-loving homosexual.

Basically, for whatever reason, terrible posters now possess the self awareness to know they'd lose, and even good posters faced with a better poster will decline the offer. OOT survivor has gotten tougher and is no longer beatable.

If a Survivor is presented to you that is deemed to be a fair fight by consensus, and you then choose to decline, you automatically get a 6 month exile from OOT.


I'm using cardo/nath as an example because they seem to truly dislike each other.
All this "whoa, whoa, whoa, those are two good posters and I'd hate to lose one..." stuff seems kind of silly.
