While cumbersome, the most effective solution seems to be to have one thread that allows spoilers, and one thread that doesn't. The major issue with that approach (beyond having two different threads) is that the spoiled folks inevitably go nuts at not being allowed to post spoilers in the no-spoiler thread, despite it existing for that very reason.

Ffs use spoiler tags like Yeti suggested. Not everyone watches films as soon as they're released.

Avengers: Infinity War's Friday box office is estimated at $106.7 million (including $39 million from Thursday night), which is the 2nd highest ever. Estimates for the 3-day opening weekend are now around $245 million, which would easily beat The Last Jedi's $220 million for 2nd highest ever, and is extremely close to The Force Awakens' $248 million. Will Infinity War come in a bit higher and pass TFA for the biggest opening weekend ever?!

Word of mouth recommendations are very supportive, with "Screen Engine/ComScore’s PostTrak reporting a massive 83% definite recommend besting Captain America: Civil War‘s buzz (75%)." Word of mouth reviews are extremely positive, and "Screen Engine/ComScore’s PostTrak scores are huge showing 93% overall positive so far which bests the positive score for both Avengers: Age of Ultron (90%) and Captain America: Civil War (88%)."

"RelishMix reports that Infinity War on social media is breaking the internet with the largest and most dynamic pic tracked in the company’s history. Infinity War‘s social media counts an overwhelming 2.1 billion followers and views, and that’s swelling daily."

The other day I watched The Post ... I love journalism films, but this was one huge POS. It is well made, but awful. Which seems like a common thing these days. The industry kinda nailed down the craftmanship, but quality remains elusive.

This morning I flipped around True Romance and was reminded what a fantastic movie it is. And what a cast. ...

In some ways I'd say the casting of The Post and True Romance have about the same weight, they're both excellent. But man, what a turd of a movie The Post turned out to be. And True Romance is fantastic.

Also this.

Not this.

If I risk getting spoiled by not watching every movie immediately when it is released in the US (which often is before the rest of the world) I'd rather not read this thread.

A Quiet Place

So, I normally am not one for thrillers/horror/etc type movies, but this one seemed different enough to give it a look.

I walked away thinking.....

Spoiler:
Why did their sand paths never wash away in the rain and where are they getting all that sand from?!?

Clearly, I do movies wrong.

Enjoyed both You Were Never Really Here and Avengers: Infinity War in theaters recently.

Watched Lethal Weapon on a plane, and didn't think it was very good. Maybe would have been better in the 80s, but doesn't seem to have stood the test of time.

Watched The Big Sick. Had no idea what it was about before going in. Started a little slow but really delivered. I often find comedy romances a bit too schmaltzy or they are primarily directed at women, this movie did really well avoiding these pitfalls.

It’s definitely on a far lower tier than Silence of the Lambs or Seven, but Red Dragon is a pretty entertaining criminal profiling story. It’s over the top at times, which I think hurts it, but it’s still ten times better than that piece of trash Hannibal(the movie).

Hopkins’ Lecter character is just so good that it’s like starting the inning with a man on second. Check it out on Netflix.

not as good as spotlight but it was typical just aright solid film, not awful due to Spielberg and hanks but not great.

Basically the true story of the main actor's real life wife.

I loved the Big Sick. I watched it on a plane and it made me cry. Then I watched it with my daughter on Christmas Eve and it made us both cry. I think the fact that it was basically a true story is what helped it avoid being too schmaltzy. And the fact that its really funny .

Watched A Fantastic Woman last night.

I've watched just about every movie ever made about trans women, and this is hands down the most accurate portrayal that I've seen. The movie focuses on events following the aftermath of the death of the woman's boyfriend. Not only is she portrayed as a real person, but she's portrayed a lot more completely than most movies portray trans women, including the relationships that we have with straight, cis men, something which is almost never shown. There's a lot of portrayals of the micro- and macro- aggressions that trans women have to endure. Oh, and she's not a sex worker, which is pretty much the go to portrayal of trans women in film.

Watched Nebraska and Mystic River. I enjoyed both, they had very good casts. They were both a bit sad though.

Spoiler:
I ended up sorta spoiling Mystic River for my bf by guessing what would happen and being right. I probably do this too often so I might just write my guess down so I can be smug after the movie finishes without spoiling it lol.
