J, sweetie, pensions in the private sector started phasing out a while ago and a lot of older people with pensions were offered early retirements or forced into retirement with the threat of losing a portion of their pensions.

While some may still have pensions, it's not a lot.

Teachers get more than half of their annual salary added to their pension every year while companies only match a very small % of what their employees put into their 401k plans.

How in the **** are you already making 6figures and getting cheap health insurance? What state do you work in? What size company? EBITA?

We know for sure EVERY SINGLE teacher pays for their own supplies because they plaster it everywhere, daily. Imagine if everyone buying their own pens, notebooks, computer screens, tools, work boots,etc. were complaining about it everyday....just lol. It would seem so rediculious, but yet we have teachers doing it while everyone wears their blinders.

And, they are having fundraisers all the ****ing time. I'd like to see some machinist handing out magazines for people to sell crap for them to buy their tools.

Those people are fools! I used to take home paper clips, rubber bands, Bic pens, and Post-it notes to supplement my salary. Never totaled up the value, but must have been worth a fortune.

I put that in there because I know a lot of people that bring their own computer screens to work in my industry...that's more for convince and preference though.

You get teachers are mad that they buy supplies for THE STUDENTS right??? Your little school list doesn’t cover all they use in class or the kids who parents send them to school with nothing expecting the school or teacher to provide for their child.

You’re bordering on bad personal/bad neighbor status...

You realize they aren't buying the school supplies for themselves, right?

They're buying them for the kids that don't or can't bring any supplies to class. A lot of parents don't bother with a kid's school supply list, or even clothing/feeding their kids. Most public schools have a significant percentage of students that come to school with empty hands and an empty stomach. I have personally witnessed parents who believe it is the school's duty to supply their kids with not only a backpack and materials, but also necessities like a winter coat or shoes.

Can a kid be expected to learn without these essentials? No, not at all. Will this kid eventually get these essentials without intervention by the teacher/school? No, not at all. Is this right? No, not at all. Is this just the way that it is? Yes.
