Personally I wouldn't care if people took their shoes off on flights if their feet don't smell. Unfortunately a lot of people can't tell their feet smell or don't care. This is what creates problems.

They are cheap crappy socks. But itnis better to wear them on the flight and then toss them than it is to wear your own socks for an extended period.
