No, I have not seen anything Fabian has posted in that thread recently.
My reasoning behind the tipping post:
First off I have limited knowledge of waitressing from working as one for a short time in one restaurant, and knowing only a couple of people that waited tables outside of the restaurant that I worked at.
1. Waitresses have a section of 4-8 tables
2. The turnover is approximately 30mins
3. The majority of the time I had 4 tables at once.
4. The majority of patrons were couples
5. The average bill was $40
6. Avg tip was 10%
7. Myself and the people I worked with were only scheduled 12- 18hrs or less(3-four hr shifts) a week as well as friends that I knew whom worked in other restaurants.
8. I paid 3% tip share, but at the time did some research of other places looking to make more money and found that the majority didn't have to pay tip share.
9. From the national statistics, a waiter makes around $24,000/yr.
10. 24000/52/14= $32.97
10. I understand that the hourly can changed based days/nights/shifts/non-tippers.
No, I don't think the tipping % should go up to 20% and it's not reasonable.
I don't think there should be tipping at all and waitresses should get paid the base minimum wage or a lil more(dealing with the public).
