Well, it's certainly not laziness!

eh, I mean I guess it depends on how dumb. regardless, from my perspective, it seemed that the dumber a person was, the harder they had to work in the engineering classes. many of the really smart ppl did very little work.

Yea, that's what I meant

I would not just immediately assume someone that has that degree is smart. There are degrees like that though, particularly math or biology

like, that post is just so amazing that it is things like that that make me think there is no way she is real. she goes to all these lengths to assure us that, oh yes indeed I triple check everything and there is no way I would make typos and careless mistakes in my professional written correspondence. then she freely admits to a mistake that I would bet has been seen fewer than 3 times combined by every member of this forum.

its totally bazaar. mindbottling.

Would assume that someone with a biology degree on average is smarter than someone who has a mechanical engineering degree? I have neither degree, but I'd assume the opposite.

at my school I would def agree but it was fairly well known for engr. and in the meche dept we had aerospace so literally rocket scientists were mechanical engineers.

the bio were usually pre-med.

I mean that's probably true, but wasn't what I was saying.

She asked how many pancakes in the box and your response was that the package said 6. So, I was reacting to that half in a "nobody gets my jokes" way and half seriously.

It is not old-fashioned. It is way people can cook, do pancakes today.

In the UK at least Biology is the softest shizzle of the sciences.

Bottom line: I'm good.

This is ****ing amazing on so many levels!

The mech engineers were definitely on a higher level than the average bio major, and all my classes were full of both of them.

I felt like a tard in college (bio-engineering major at a UC) because I think I was the only student in my major who wasn't pre-med.
It might have changed a lot in the past 15+ years but when I started there in the late 90's (I believe my class was either the first or 2nd year the major was available) it was ridiculously cuthroat, and at the time bio-engineering was basically a way to get you into med school. The curriculum really wasnt designed to prepare you for any specific job.

This is the food I bought for the weekend. The plan is eggs, smoothies, yogurt, chicken+veggies, and tunafish. I am resetting and getting back on track this weekend.
I am quite curious as to what people think of this strategy to stop smoking? It seems far from optimal. I would have thought giving up cigs that a person would have to be highly motivated within themselves to do it. I've never smoked cigs though so maybe I am not in a position to comment

well, gorging herself to fight cravings didn't really work last time, at least this time she's doing it with food that's not horrible for her

Obviously no issues with her food choices, but really someone following you around to make sure you don't smoke is a good strategy lol?

Addiction is super complicated. The odds of M stopping are near 0 tho. This isn't the best strategy or the worst but for M it doesn't matter.

If she accepts that smoking necessarily makes her a worse parent it shouldn't be that difficult to quit.

That technically should be true but unfortunately I doubt even that as motivation would help. I still have moments where I'm like wtf was wrong with my parents smoking and drinking. Addictions are hard to address though.

Theoretically if Code dangled a wedding ring that was contingent upon her passing 52 weekly cotinine tests for a year she might have a shot, but they would have a few breakups during that year and she would instantly light up during the first one.

Did I miss a story about MLYLT holding down Jr and blowing smoke rings in her face?

Otherwise this is pretty stupid. What else aren't parents allowed? Red meat, alcohol, contact sports, motorcycles?

You can hit me with it. Smoking IS gross. It DOES smell funny. It IS bad for you.

I just think the idea that someone might go outside and smoke a cigar or cigarette now and then necessarily makes them a bad parent is pretty stupid.
