It's probably more accurate to describe her behaviour in that way than slamming her as a person but then again if someone is persistently acting in this way and not getting treatment at some point the onus is on them. Having said that I still find her pretty intolerable due to the fact she is so irresponsible with her mental health but also is the first to use it as an excuse for how she is.
If she didn't have an innocent kid involved I'd say let her rot. But it's not the kid's fault, so I'm all for encouraging her to get proper long term treatment with intensive therapy and continuous medication.

Not to disagree nor belabor your point, but their loved ones must also share some responsibility if they have not done all they can to get such a person into adequate treatment.
Mlylt knows she has serious issues but still has times she hasn't taken her medication and puts off therapy or changes therapists because she doesn't like what they say. Absolutely you would hope she would be supported by loved ones and encouraged to get help, but this is no excuse when a child is involved. It is her responsibility.
I said this a few months ago in one of her many threads (and admittedly, somewhat in jest) but it is painfully apparent after this last mini episode that someone with the wherewithal needs to call child protective services or the TX equivalent. MLYLT might not be the greatest person but there are clearly mental health issues going on that really need addressing asap - if not for her than for her kid. This isn't the first time she has contemplated using a gun.
Code3 needs to step up at this point. Call CPS, agree to be a witness, and then leave the whole thing behind you.
if only she'd ever listen to advice from people who know what they're talking about. Like me for instance - i have experience with this stuff and consider myself decently recovered from some of the same stuff she deals with.
instead the stuff I write really triggers her and I can tell, because it probably echoes a lot of what she feels. Sometimes I'm too mean and I sort of regret that, but at the same time I think she needs to hear mean. She's way too ****ing arrogant.
The sense of superiority is real. I've known people with that attitude that were still desperately insecure. They truly believe it and it defines them, to the point where at the very core of their being they are so afraid they're wrong that almost every action they take is an attempt to reaffirm that belief. Rinse repeat.
I mean don't fault me for getting political but our president is a perfect example of a similar personality.

That's exactly what a creepy internet stalker guy would say. Im getting a gun from my ex-husband, and if anyone I don't know shows up at my house or anywhere near my child, I won't hesitate for a second to shoot you right in the face and blow your brains out.

Oh right Ok that was not in recent times, as in last 24-48 hours. That is why I can't understand her not putting her mental health as a top priority. It just astounds me when someone has a young child that they aren't doing everything they can to try and stay well. I hope people don't think I am prejudiced against people with mental illnesses because I am definitely not and I have also suffered mental health problems myself. Untreated it can impact family so heavily and where do you draw the line? I hope she finds it within herself to get some serious therapy and effective medication but at this point with past history it seems unlikely. I truly hope she does though.
TV sure has taught a lot of you that happy endings are a real thing huh? This is BPD and a mess of other stuff. There's no cure. This is who she is and likely who she will always be.
And who her daughter will likely be. And her daughter. And her daughter...
The truth is BPD isn't some terminal sentence. If MLYLT decided that she wanted to change, admitted she's irrational and makes poor decisions, put in real time and effort to learning coping skills, she could turn things around.
BPD isn't like schizophrenia. It's nasty in its own way, but she can improve herself.
That would enable to cut the tumor known as Code3 out of her life completely. Right now that thought would horrify her, because she has no coping skills or self esteem.
