Everybody always gets it, I assure you. You have gone your entire life without having a novel thought. 27 likened you to ytf, and one of the primary points of overlap is that you both clearly surrounded yourself with rubes to whom you are/were smart and clever by comparison. OOT is not populated by those rubes.

(I mean no offense to ytf in the above post. I probably should have included the part where 27 pointed out that, regardless of similarity, ytf was clearly more likable.)

my father's mom, a true dust bowl okie in every sense of the phrase (her life story reads like a Steinbeck character), had to have her right hand amputated mid-forearm because of a tumor.

it took her a few months to adjust, but it wasn't long before she got back to doing her usual cooking, gardening, canning, writing, and quilting with only her weaker left hand and the stump of what was left of her right.

she never ever complained about her situation, because what she was experiencing at that moment, even without a right hand, was nothing in comparison to the hardship of her young adult years during the dust bowl trying to take care of four young kids and migrating halfway across the country from OK to CA to find work picking fruit in the orchards of southern california, and migrating back to OK a few years later to return to the home she knew best.

why do i bring this up? after all the hardship in her life the only thing i remember my grandmother complaining about were the 'phantom itches' she would regularly feel on the back of her missing right hand just above the thumb, a common phenomena among amputees. they happened all the time and as much as she would like to do something about them, dig in and scratch them away, there was nothing to be done because there wasn't anything there. seeing RG's hidden posts reminds me of her phantom itches...there's nothing i can do to dig in and scratch them away
